Xavier stood up, “Let me get a bite to eat first, we can talk later.”

“There’s nothing to talk about. Just cat and get out.”

After saying that, Aveline ignored him and went upstairs.

She washed her hands and changed her clothes, and when she came downstairs, she saw Xavier already sitting in the living room, chatting with Collin and Paulina.

He had brought back many travel gifts from Singapore, including traditional health tonics for the elderly and a few tins from an artisanal tea collection.

Collin was clearly very interested in the tea and was talking with Xavier about it.

Aveline coldly sat off to the side, eating the apple slices Miranda had cut, and then noticed that Xavier seemed to know a lot about tea too.

Collin replied, “Staying up a little late once in a while is fine.”

Xavier glanced at Aveline’s cold face staring at him and said, “Collin, Paulina, you two should go rest. We can talk more tomorrow.”

“I’ve been on a plane for hours, I’m tired too, and I’d like to rest.”

Aveline heard the implication in Xavier’s words; it sounded like he planned to spend the night here.

She immediately glared at him, warning him not to even think about it.

Collin and Paulina also caught Xavier’s meaning. They exchanged a look, deciding not to get involved and to leave it for Aveline to handle herself.

Miranda accompanied them upstairs.

Only Aveline and Xavier were left in the living room.

Xavier got up, glanced at Aveline, and walked towards the stairs without a word.

Aveline said coldly, “Where are you going?

The door is over there.”

Xavier ignored her and went straight upstairs.

Aveline frowned slightly and followed him, thinking, Fine, let’s get what you just said straight.

Xavier walked straight into Aveline’s bedroom.

Aveline followed him in, and when she saw him starting to take off his belt, she immediately shouted, “What are you doing?”

Without looking back at her, Xavier pulled his belt off, tossed it on the bench at the foot of the bed, and said,

“Let me take a shower first, then we can talk.”

“Xavier, don’t go too far.”

As if he hadn’t heard her, Xavier looked around, “Where’s my suitcase? I asked Miranda to bring it up. Where did she put it?”

Aveline knew there was no way Miranda would have put his suitcase in her bedroom, so she said,

“It’s not in here. Get out.”

Xavier turned to look at her, “I’m going to take a shower. You go find Miranda and get my suitcase for me.”

With that, he headed for the bathroom.

Aveline was so angry she gritted her teeth.

But they weren’t divorced yet; even if she called the police, the matter would be swept under the rug, and they could- n’t kick him out.

Besides, she couldn’t possibly make a big scene with him at her grandparents‘ house.

Xavier was just being a scoundrel.

His previous cold and aloof demeanor was just an act; in reality, he was a shameless scoundrel.

Aveline went out to find Miranda and ask where Xavier’s suitcase was.

Miranda replied, “He told me to put it in your bedroom. I wasn’t going to listen to him, so I put it in the guest room.”

“Aveline, the old lady said if he’s going to stay the night, let him sleep in the guest room. You’re not divorced yet, so it wouldn’t be right to kick him out.”

Aveline nodded with a dark expression and went back to her bedroom.

She sat on the sofa, waiting for Xavier to come out of the bathroom.

As she waited, the phone Xavier had left on the bed started to ring.

It kept ringing, as if the caller wouldn’t give up until he answered.

With a cold look, Aveline walked over to check. It was Josephine.

Just then, Xavier’s voice came from the bathroom, “Answer it for me. The password is your birthday.”

Aveline scoffed. Her birthday or Josephine’s?

She and Josephine shared the exact same birthday.

Aveline said nothing, but picked up the phone and rejected the call.
