After closing the door, Leona turned around, saw his expression, and frowned. “Don’t be like that. You may not want to see Josie, but I do. She’s my best friend.”
“Besides, the three of us can’t finish a whole lamb. It’ll be more lively with Gerald and Josie here.”
Just then, Marcus walked out of the dining room and said with a smile, “Xavier’s here, so let’s all go to the table.”
Josephine stayed silent, looking timidly at Xavier, as if she were afraid he’d get angry.
Gerald stared at Xavier with a stern face, his eyes practically warning him not to lose his temper with Josephine.
Xavier had wanted to turn around and leave, but after his brother–in–law came out to greet him, he couldn’t just storm off.
Besides, Mason cheered, “Uncle’s here! We can eat the Spit–Roasted Whole Lamb now!”
With a cool expression, Xavier followed his brother–in–law into the dining room without a word.
Leona waved Gerald and Josephine into the dining room. Josephine stood up and walked over to Leona, looking un-
easy.
“Leona, Xav is obviously not happy.”
Leona comforted her, “I didn’t tell him you were coming too, that’s why he’s upset. He’s upset with me, not you.”
Gerald also comforted Josephine, “Don’t be scared. It’s not like he’s going to eat you.
Let’s go in.”
Leona said to Josephine, “Go on in and sit next to Xavier.”
Then, she took Josephine’s hand and led her into the dining room.
Xavier was already seated. Leona pulled out the chair next to him. “Come on, Josie, have a seat.”
Xavier looked up at Leona, his dark eyes a little cold.
Leona’s heart skipped a beat, but since he didn’t say anything, she knew he wouldn’t lose his temper, so she pushed Josephine down into the seat.
Josephine glanced shyly at Xavier, then lowered her head slightly, her hands clasped in her lap.
Marcus, not knowing the situation, laughed, “Why are you being so formal?”
As he spoke, he sized Josephine up.

Tonight, Josephine was wearing a bright yellow V–neck dress. The hint of her full bust was visible, the cinched waist made her look slender, and the short skirt revealed her long, fair legs.
The designer bright yellow dress truly showed off Josephine’s great figure and made her beautiful face shine.
Xavier was sitting next to Josephine. If he didn’t turn his head to look at her, he naturally wouldn’t see anything.
Marcus was sitting across from Josephine, in the perfect viewing spot.
He didn’t dare to look for too long and turned his gaze to Xavier. “Xavier, what are you drinking?”
Xavier said flatly, “You guys go ahead. I’m not drinking.”
As he said that, he picked up his phone and took a picture of the Spit–Roasted Whole Lamb on the table.
Seeing this, Leona smiled, “It’s rare for a lamb to be roasted this well. I’ll take a picture too.”
She picked up her phone, smiling, and took a few pictures, as if she was capturing the roasted lamb from every angle.
Then she said, “The red wine is already open. Let’s have a glass.”
Xavier looked at Leona across from him with a cold expression, not saying a word.
He sent the picture he took to Aveline, [Look how well this lamb is roasted. You’re really missing out.]
Marcus knew his brother–in–law well. Seeing his cold face, he quickly said, “If Xavier doesn’t want to drink, he does- n’t have to. The rest of us will drink.”
“Didn’t you ask the housekeeper to make juice? Pour a glass for Xavier.”
Leona had no choice but to pour Xavier a glass of juice. Just then, Josephine said, “I’ll have juice with Xav.”
Marcus laughed, “I’ve heard of keeping someone company while they drink alcohol, but never while they drink juice.”
Josephine immediately lowered her eyes in embarrassment, her voice getting quieter, “I just thought Xav might get bored drinking juice by himself.”
Just then, Mason said, “Josie, I’m drinking juice too. I can keep Uncle company.”
Leona shot an annoyed glance at the father and son, Marcus and Mason, then said to Josephine:
“You should have some red wine. This is a good bottle, try
it.”
“Don’t worry, Xavier will take you home.”
Saying that, she poured red wine for Josephine.
Josephine looked like she had no choice but to accept and didn’t say anything more.
After the wine was poured, Leona raised her glass for a toast. Except for Xavier, who just tapped his glass lightly on the table as a token gesture, everyone else clinked their glasses.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
