Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 395

Chapter 395

“The day of your accident, your two sisters and your mother were all traveling abroad. I only got the call and rushed over after you were already in surgery. When I got to the hospital, I only saw Aveline.”

“But back then, I had never met Jacob’s illegitimate daughter, so I’m not sure if she was at the hospital or not.”

“I was scared to death at the time. I couldn’t think about anything else, just hoping you would be okay.”

“But, Xavier, whether Aveline really deceived us or not, Jacob’s illegitimate daughter is definitely not a good person. Stirring this up now, she clearly has an ulterior motive.”

“You stay away from that woman.”

Xavier said flatly, “Yeah, I know.”

“What do you know? Didn’t you invest a billion in her movie?”

Xavier replied, “The investment is already made. I can’t pull it.”

Rupert looked at him intently. “Are you helping her like this because you think she’s the one who saved you?”

Xavier met Rupert’s gaze. “Grandpa…”

“Don’t try to fool me. I may be old, but my mind is still sharp.

Leona wouldn’t stir up trouble for no reason, and you wouldn’t be this good to Josephine without a cause.”

“Unless you’re lying to me, and you’re actually in love with Josephine, not Aveline.”

Xavier replied, “I love Aveline.”

“Then I can only assume this: you knew all along that Aveline deceived you, but you love her, so you tolerated her lies, never exposed her, got engaged to her, and then officially registered the marriage, right?”

Xavier’s expression tightened, but he didn’t speak.

Rupert kept staring at him. “Aveline feels guilty, so that’s why she wants to divorce you?”

Xavier shook his head. “No.”

“Then what’s the reason?”

Xavier paused for a moment. “Because I’ve been good to Josephine.”

Rupert let out a heavy snort.

After that, the study fell silent.

Rupert interrupted him, “Bring Aveline back. I’ll ask her myself.”

Xavier said flatly, “The amusement park project has started. She’s busy with two projects right now, so let’s not bother her.”

“Grandpa, I’ll have a good talk with her.”

Rupert looked at Xavier deeply. “You’re afraid I’ll ask her, aren’t you?”

Xavier smiled, looking at Rupert. “If Aveline wasn’t the one who saved me, then she lied to me. But we’re husband and wife now, so what do you plan to do, sir?”

Rupert stared at him. “Xavier, did you think she was lying to you before you got the marriage certificate, or after? It seems you don’t care at all.”

“Let’s just assume Aveline really did lie to you. What are your thoughts?”

Xavier lowered his gaze. After a moment, he said flatly, “Haven’t I already told you?”

Rupert continued to stare at him for a while, then sighed.

Yes, he had told him. He liked Aveline, loved Aveline, and that’s why he got engaged and registered the marriage.

Matters of the heart are indeed hard to control. Once you like someone, once you love them, you can’t let go, even if they’re a liar.
