“Gerald, it seems like standing in the night breeze that evening didn’t clear your head.”
“Then let me tell you again, I will never divorce Aveline in my life. Stop nagging me about divorce in the future.”
“If you like Josephine, then go after her.”
After saying that, Xavier hung up the phone.
Then he glanced at the time. It was already past three.
After lunch, he texted Aveline to come back, but she didn’t. He lay down on her bed and fell asleep without realizing it.
So, did she ever come back or not?
She couldn’t have gone to work in those pajamas, right?
Xavier wanted to call Aveline, but figured she wouldn’t pick up, so he called Simon instead.
Simon was discussing new design ideas with Aveline and Jasmine when his phone rang. glanced at it and quickly said,
“It’s Mr. Beltran. Excuse me, I need to take this call.”
Aveline said coolly, “Go ahead.”
He
Simon answered, “Hello, Mr. Beltran.
”
Xavier asked, “Are you with Aveline?”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
As he spoke, Simon glanced at Aveline, wondering why Mr. Beltran was asking him instead of Aveline herself.
Xavier asked again, “Where?”
“In the small conference room at the hotel.”
“Okay, got it. Bye.”

Simon was confused. Did Mr. Beltran call to ask where he was, or to find out where Aveline
was?
Jasmine smiled, “Was Mr. Beltran asking you where Aveline is?”
Simon chuckled. “Mr. Beltran is here, after all. He probably just wants to check on our work.”
Aveline said coolly, “Let’s continue.”
About ten minutes later, someone walked into the small conference room.
Aveline knew Xavier well enough to recognize his footsteps immediately-rhythmic and unhurried.
Simon looked up inquiringly. “Mr. Beltran.”
He stood up as he spoke.
Xavier glanced at Aveline, only to see her looking down at the blueprints with an indifferent expression, not looking at him.
Jasmine, however, also stood up as a sign of respect.
Xavier walked over to Aveline and said, “I fell asleep. Why didn’t you wake me up?”
Simon froze. Didn’t what Aveline said to him earlier mean she didn’t know Mr. Beltran was here?
Aveline said coolly, “Mr. Beltran, am I your mother or your nanny?”
Xavier chuckled, moved a few seats away from her, pulled out a chair, and sat down. “You guys continue. Don’t mind me.”
So Simon and Jasmine sat down and continued their discussion with Aveline.
Aveline didn’t look at Xavier, but she could feel a burning gaze fixed on her.
He’s got some real issues.
She cursed silently in her head.
After the discussion, Aveline and Jasmine moved to another side of the room to continue drawing their blueprints.
Seeing that Simon was free, Xavier asked, “Have you guys been to the construction site recently?” Simon replied, “Sometimes David and the crew get stuck, so they still go over and take a look.”

Xavier glanced at Aveline and said. “Be careful with the heat.”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran, I’ll definitely be careful about that.”
With that, Simon got up to pour tea for Xavier.
But Xavier took the teapot from him, “I’ll do it myself.”
Xavier poured himself a cup of tea first, then walked over to Aveline and refilled her cup.

He added calmly, “I’m staying here tonight. I’m not leaving until we talk this through. You can’t run from this even if you want to.”
“Besides, if I go back without clearing things up with you, the Patriarch won’t let me set foot in the Beltran’s mansion.”
Aveline didn’t look up at him, saying coldly, “Mr. Beltran, it’s working hours. Please respect our work.”
Xavier glanced at her, said nothing, and took the teapot back to his seat.
Simon felt a bit awkward and really wanted to leave the meeting room.
He looked over at Jasmine, but surprisingly, she didn’t seem awkward and even smiled.
Rebecca walked into the small meeting room. She froze when she saw Xavier, then quickly greeted him.
Then she handed Aveline the documents she had asked for.
Aveline thanked her.
Rebecca had just sat down for a moment when Xavier called her, “Rebecca…”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
“Go book a private dining room for everyone for dinner tonight. You should know what to order.”
Rebecca heard this and knew Mr. Beltran wanted her to order Aveline’s favorite dishes. She agreed and got up to book a private room at the hotel’s restaurant.
Hearing this, Aveline was sure that Xavier really wasn’t leaving and was determined to clear the air with her.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
