Aveline didn’t hear Xavier respond, so she figured he must have just given her a look or a gesture.
Aveline scoffed internally, thinking that Xavier was racing against time to spend a moment with Josephine, even while just changing his clothes.
And then he runs back to her to continue his act.
She must have been blind before, not seeing what kind of person he really was.
He wasn’t even tired of juggling two women.
Xavier walked in and was surprised to see Aveline lying in bed with her eyes open. “You’re not asleep?”
“Or did I wake you?”
Aveline smirked, “Asleep? How could you hear someone inviting you to go see a villa then?”
Xavier frowned slightly. “Then you should have also heard that I completely ignored her. Don’t
overthink it.‘
“Is your foot hurting too much to sleep?”
Aveline wasn’t buying his crap. With a cold expression, she pushed herself up with her hands, trying to sit up.
Xavier quickly sat on the bed, about to help her sit up.
Aveline said coldly, “Don’t touch me.”
Xavier pretended not to hear and insisted on lifting her into a sitting position with both hands. Anyway, he knew her foot was injured, so she couldn’t struggle much, at most she’d just curse
him out.
Sure enough, Aveline cursed at him, “Can you just get lost? What are you doing back here?”
“Couldn’t he just go with Josephine to see that stupid villa? Why did he have to hang around and annoy her?
“Where’s my phone?”

Xavier replied. “You left it in my room.
“You… go get it.”
“If you need a phone, just use mine.”
Aveline snapped, “Does your phone have my Social Feed?”
Xavier replied, “Why do you need to look at your Social Feed?
If you’re bored, I can talk with you.”
Aveline just stared at him coldly, saying nothing.

Xavier ignored the coldness in her beautiful, almond–shaped eyes and chuckled, “Why are you staring like that? It’s like you want to eat me alive.”
Aveline said flatly, “Xavier, stop wasting your effort. My decision to divorce was well–thought- out, not an impulse.”
“Even if telling Fiona to draw up a divorce agreement where I’d be waiving all claims to marital assets and send it to you was an impulse, months have passed now, and I still haven’t changed my mind about the divorce. So it’s not an impulse anymore.”
“So all this trying to please me, even being all slick and charming, it’s useless.”
As Xavier listened, his expression turned slightly cold. “Does your foot still hurt? I’ll ice it for you again for a bit.”
With that, he got up to get some ice.
Aveline scoffed, mocking him for changing the subject.
Xavier acted like he didn’t hear, but his handsome face was as cold as the ice in the bucket.
After getting the ice, his expression softened a little when he turned back to Aveline. He sat on the bed and went to lift the blanket.
Aveline didn’t move, letting him do it, just watching him with a cool, detached gaze.
When the icing was done, she said, “Bring me my laptop. I need to work.”
Xavier picked up his phone, intending to ask the manager to bring a new bucket of ice. Hearing her, he replied,
“What work? You should be resting. I’ll turn on the TV for you.”

Navier had no choice but to ask the manager to send over a small desk for Aveline to put her laptop on
After that, Aveline didn’t try to kick him out again and let him take care of her. Seeing that she was being compliant, he went back to his room after dinner, planning to return her phone.
Just then, a message came from Sebastian: [Aveline, I’ve been busy abroad lately and haven’t been in touch.]
[Next Saturday night is Crestmark’s Annual Blossom Gala. You should come.]
Xavier saw it and called Sebastian.
Sebastian picked up quickly, thinking it was Aveline herself, and said right away, “Aveline.”
Xavier’s voice was cold as he said, “Mr. Harmon, are you only inviting my wife to The Blossom Gala?”
This was the tenth year Crestmark held The Blossom Gala. Xavier went once, right after he took over as CEO of the, but he’d been too busy to go again.
Sebastian hadn’t expected Xavier to call him from Aveline’s phone. And apparently, Xavier had seen the message he sent. Surprised, he chuckled:

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
