Was it because he heard what Jasmine said?
No, that can’t be right. How could Xavier figure out what she did just from that one sentence from Jasmine?
Josephine froze. Rebecca called out to her, “Ms. Sutton?”
Josephine snapped out of it, told herself to stay calm, and put on a smile as she handed the phone
back to Rebecca.
“It’s nothing. Mr. Beltran was just asking when I’m heading back to the city.”
“I’m sorry, my phone died, so Mr. Beltran couldn’t reach me and had to trouble you.”
Aveline heard this and didn’t look at Josephine, but a sarcastic smile touched her lips.
She scoffed inwardly. So what if she had blocked Josephine’s number? Xavier could call anytime if he remembered the number.
He could even have his secretary or assistant contact her for him.
Rebecca took the phone back, saying it was no trouble at all, while wondering why Josephine had specifically come over here to talk to Mr. Beltran. It was so weird.
Is the signal better in this spot?
Aveline called out to Rebecca, “Rebecca, have you had lunch yet? Come eat with us.
Rebecca agreed, “I’ll go get my food.”
Josephine gave Aveline a cold look and walked back to Dylan’s side.
But she felt extremely uneasy because Xavier’s two sentences were too intimidating.
He wouldn’t have his secretary find her just to say those two sentences, would he?
Could he have found out that she lied about saving him?
Rebecca was getting her food when Xavier called again. She quickly answered.
Xavier asked, “Was Aveline nearby when Josephine answered the phone?”

Rebecca was a bit confused, but she replied, “Yes, Mr. Beltran. I found Ms. Sutton in the cafeteria. Aveline, Jasmine, and Brandon were having lunch.”

“Josephine wasn’t eating at the same table as Aveline, was she? I heard Jasmine say something.”
Rebecca quickly explained, “Here’s what happened, Mr. Beltran. It seemed like the signal was bad, so Ms. Sutton walked over to Aveline’s table to talk to you. Jasmine, she… she suddenly blurted something out.”
“What did she say?”
Rebecca thought that what she said wasn’t very nice, but since her boss wanted to know, she had to tell him.
“Jasmine said something about a ‘clumsy trick‘ and ‘losing her mind,‘ something like that. I didn’t hear it very clearly.”
“Mr. Beltran, maybe Jasmine didn’t mean…”
Xavier cut her off, “What was Aveline’s reaction?”
“Aveline just kept her head down and ate. She just invited me to eat with her.
“Are you next to Aveline?”
“No, Mr. Beltran, I’m getting my food.”
“Okay, go ahead and eat.”
With that, Xavier hung up.
On Aveline’s end, her phone buzzed. It was a text from Xavier.
[I had Rebecca find Josephine because she hired paid online trolls to stir up trouble on the internet.]
[You eat first. We’ll talk properly after your meal.]
A moment later, Xavier sent another one: [Baby, don’t overthink it.]
Aveline felt that there was something seriously wrong with this man.
You should see a doctor.]
Xavier saw this reply and gave a wry smile.

Chapter 489
He called Ryan in and asked, “Can you find out who hired the paid online trolls?”

Ryan replied. “Mr. Beltran, the companies that provide paid online trolls would never sell out their clients. Otherwise, how could they stay in business? Unless we use some tactics.”
“But, Mr. Beltran, we don’t need to investigate the troll companies. It’s obvious who hired them. It couldn’t possibly be Aveline, right?”
How could it be Aveline? It must be Josephine. Of course, Xavier knew that too.
He asked in a cold voice, “What’s the situation with the movie?”
Ryan replied, “Mr. Beltran, I was just about to report to you. The financial statements are a complete mess. There’s no way they’ll pass our audit.”
“But since we never said the billion required an audit before the funds could be released, it’s still up to you.”
Xavier looked at him with cold, dark eyes. “You still don’t know what I want?”
Ryan just wanted to get a final confirmation. He was afraid that after he replaced Josephine, Mr. Beltran might suddenly change his mind. Then he’d be in deep trouble, ending up just like Claude Steele.
“Yes, yes, Mr. Beltran, I understand.
I’ve already spoken with the producer. He said everything is up to the investors. If we think the director and the script are no good, we can replace them.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
