Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 58

Simon was holding the resumes of Aveline and two others. After sitting down, he handed them to Xavier.

Mr. Beltran, these are the resumes of the architects Mr. Clarke recommended. One of them is a Ms. Sutton,

The cup Xavier was raising to his lips paused. He looked up at Simon. Which Ms. Sutton?

Simon’s eyes flickered. He wondered why Xavier would ask that question. Aveline was his fiancée; could it be he didn’t know she was an architect?

The other Ms. Sutton, Josephine, is a director. There’s no way Bernard would recommend that Ms. Sutton.

Mr. Beltran, it’s Aveline.

Xavier’s gaze sharpened. He put down his cup, took the resumes, and opened them.

Simon had intentionally placed Aveline’s resume on top, so he saw it as soon as he opened the folder.

Simon watched Xavier’s expression closely, but he remained impassive, as if he already knew what Aveline’s resume would look like.

Simon was a little confused.

Could it be that Xavier disliked Aveline so much that he wouldn’t hire her, no matter how qualified she was?

He was glad he hadn’t immediately agreed to Bernard’s request yesterday and decided to ask Mr. Beltran first.

Xavier finished reading Aveline’s resume, glanced casually at Jasmine’s and Julian’s, then closed the folder.

He asked Simon, You think we should hire them?

Mr. Beltran asked about hiring them, not just hiring Aveline.Simon thought for a moment and said:

In my professional opinion, Ms. Sutton and her two partners at the studio have the capability to handle this project.

Xavier asked again, What about Dylan?

Simon was taken aback, wondering if Mr. Beltran wanted to hire Dylan instead.

He considered it for a moment before replying, Dylan’s current achievements aren’t as impressive as Aveline’s. Be- sides, Mr. Clarke said he wouldn’t act as a consultant if Aveline isn’t leading the project.

Hearing this, Xavier chuckled, Bernard certainly thinks highly of her.

Simon couldn’t figure out what Xavier was thinking and probed, Mr. Beltran, so what’s your decision?

Xavier placed the resumes on the coffee table and said, I’ll think about it.

Chapter 58

Simon was now certain. Mr. Beltran really disliked his fiancée, Aveline. So he stood up.

Well, Mr. Beltran, I’ll be heading out then.

Xavier nodded and picked up his coffee to continue drinking.

Just then, Claude Steele knocked and came in. Ms. Sutton is here.

Xavier said, Mm, let her in.

Simon froze, wondering which Ms. Sutton it was.

Josephine walked in, and he finally knew. He also got the feeling that Xavier knew which Ms. Sutton it was without even asking.

Josephine said with a smile, Darling, did you talk to Mr. Harmon for me?

Xavier replied, Sebastian said the architect for the landscape design of The Mountainous Resort has already been chosen.

Simon, who had reached the door, stopped in his tracks.

Josephine said, disappointed, Oh, they’ve chosen someone? Who? Who could be more capable than my cousin?

Xavier said flatly, I don’t know.

Simon turned back and said, Mr. Beltran, the architect for the landscape design of The Luohua Six Peaks Resort is Aveline.

Josephine was stunned and asked in disbelief, Aveline?

My sister, Aveline?

Xavier’s dark eyes narrowed as he looked at Simon.

Simon nodded. Yes, Mr. Beltran. It wasn’t on Aveline’s resume because the contract hasn’t been formally signed yet, but Mr. Harmon has already decided on her.

Xavier said flatly, Mm, I see. You can go now.

Seeing Xavier’s bland reaction, Simon nodded and left.

But he caught Claude, who was standing outside the door, and said, Mr. Beltran really doesn’t like Aveline, does he?

Claude had, of course, overheard that Aveline got the Crestmark project and said with a smile, Mr. Beltran certainly

doesn’t like Aveline.

In his opinion, no matter how well Aveline did, she could never compare to Josephine, who held an important place in Xavier’s heart.

Simon sighed, shook his head, and left.

Inside the office, Josephine walked to the sofa, sat down beside Xavier, and said, Darling, since the contract hasn’t been officially signed, you should talk to Mr. Harmon again.

Xavier took a sip of his coffee and said, Sebastian isn’t that easy to persuade.

Josephine pouted and chuckled, My sister really went to great lengths for that Crestmark project; she never drinks, but she was being so visible in public drinking with Sebastian, so she really deserves to land that project.

After saying that, she glanced at Xavier, and seeing he was expressionless, she added, Then what about the amuse- ment park project? Can my cousin do it?
