He wondered if Josephine had moved her things out yet.
The door code needed to be changed, and he didn’t know if Josephine had taken the key.
Xavier rubbed his forehead in frustration. The thought of killing Josephine surfaced again.
Amy saw that Xavier had been silent for a while, his expression complicated as he rubbed his forehead, and wondered what was on his mind.
Was he afraid that ruining Jacob’s company would make Aveline unhappy?
Amy said, “Mr. Beltran, maybe we should just cause some trouble for Jacob. That might be enough to scare them.”
Xavier looked up at her and said coldly, “I want to destroy that entire family.”
“I suspect Ryan’s investigation was too short. There are things he hasn’t uncovered yet. Have someone keep digging.”
“As for the loan sharking, have them start collecting the debt. We can’t let Jacob be so comfortable. If he’s not comfortable, neither are Courtney and Josephine.”
“On the business side, create some trouble for him. Don’t let him get any projects. Once he’s cornered, Courtney and Josephine will naturally show their true colors.”
Amy nodded, “Okay, Mr. Beltran. I know what to do.”
All that talk from Xavier wasn’t important. What mattered were the two words: “take them out.”
The people at Xavier’s private company were pros at this sort of thing.
Amy asked, “Mr. Beltran, when are you going to Singapore to see Rachel?”
Xavier was considering whether to see Julian first and then Rachel, or just go straight to see Rachel.
He had a feeling Julian was unhappy with him and wouldn’t say much.
His long fingers tapped lightly on the arm of the sofa. After a moment, he replied to Amy, “Book a flight for tomorrow afternoon.”
He’d see Rachel on Monday, and if things went smoothly, he could be back the same day.
Amy nodded and left to handle it.
Xavier was alone in his study. In the quiet, he thought about the trouble Josephine had caused him, his face turning ice–cold with anger.
He picked up his phone and called Fiona.
Fiona had just gotten back to her parents‘ house with Sebastian. They were sitting in the living room chatting when she saw Xavier’s call and scoffed.
“I wonder what bullshit Xavier wants now, calling me again.”
Her mom said disapprovingly, “You’re a lawyer. Why do you always have to use such vulgar language?
Are you like this in court too?”
Her dad frowned. “What did Xavier do to you? Why are you so disrespectful to him?”
Sebastian glanced at Fiona and smiled faintly without saying a word.
Fiona replied to her mom, “Do you think your daughter is an idiot? Would I talk to a judge like that?”
She replied to her dad, “Of course I’m disrespectful to him. It’s because he did something disrespectful first.”
Her dad asked, “That’s why I’m asking you, what did he do to you?”
Sebastian saw the phone was still ringing and said, “You should probably answer that.”
Fiona clicked her tongue, then answered, “Hello, Mr. Beltran. We just saw each other not long ago. What is it now?”
Xavier asked her, “You’ve seen the analysis of the surveillance footage. Can you send Eileen to prison?”
Fiona scoffed. “Why don’t you ask if Josephine can be sent to prison?”
As she spoke, she got up and walked elsewhere to talk with Xavier, not wanting her parents to know too much about Aveline’s situation.
After all, her parents still didn’t know that Aveline was divorcing Xavier.
Xavier replied, “Fine. Then I’ll ask you, can you get Josephine sent to prison?”
Fiona said mockingly, “Xavier, as long as you don’t interfere with your
–
money and power, I can send both of those vicious women to prison.”
Xavier asked, “When is the next court date?”
Fiona shot back, “Go ask your darling.”
Xavier was furious. In a cold voice, he said, “Fiona…”
“I don’t trust you. You brought this on yourself.”
“Then why are you still using the video analysis I had someone do?”
“Xavier, I know you want to dump Josephine, but I bet you also want her in jail. After all, she has dirt on you.”
Xavier said coolly, “What kind of dirt could she possibly have on me?”
Fiona chuckled. “Don’t act all calm and ask me that. You’ve been making life hard for Josephine lately, and she’s getting desperate.”
“I’m just curious, you didn’t let her record you, did you?

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
