Chapter 715
At the bustling law firm, the arrival of Xavier instantly caught the attention of everyone around, both men and women alike. It wasn’t just his reputation as a powerful figure that drew gazes; his tall stature and striking good looks made him impossible to ignore.
Xavier approached the door to Fiona’s office. Her secretary spotted him immediately and, assuming he was there to see Fiona, seized the chance to engage him. She hurried over with a polite smile.
“Mr. Beltran, are you here to meet with Fiona?” she asked.
Just as Xavier was about to knock, he heard her question and gave a brief nod in confirmation.
The secretary replied, “Fiona and Ms. Sutton are currently in a meeting. Please have a seat, and I’ll let them know you’ve arrived.”
Xavier’s voice was steady and firm as he responded, “No need for that. Just knock, and have her open the door.”
Though his tone was calm, the secretary couldn’t help but feel the intensity in his dark, commanding eyes. She nodded and knocked promptly.
Moments later, Katie opened the door with a sharp, “What is it?”
Her words barely left her mouth before she caught sight of Xavier standing there.
The secretary quickly explained, “Mr. Beltran is here to see Fiona.”
From inside, Fiona’s voice rang out sharply, “He’s not welcome. Tell him to leave. If he’s after a lawyer, he can go see Gerald.”
Katie and the secretary exchanged uncertain looks, unsure how to proceed. Katie hesitated, caught between closing the door and letting him in.
Without waiting, Xavier gently pushed the door open and stepped inside. “I’m not here for a lawyer. I’m here to see the lead architect.”
Aveline was seated on the sofa, calmly holding a cup of tea. She glanced at him with a cool, unreadable expression but remained silent.
Fiona shot Xavier a pointed look. “Mr. Beltran, can’t the lead architect take even a single day off? Did you really follow her all the way here?”
Xavier ignored the jab, pulling up a chair and sitting down with ease. “Has that Gerald been causing you any trouble?”
Aveline lowered her gaze, sipped her tea, and chose to ignore him completely.
Turning his attention to Fiona, Xavier smirked. “If Gerald’s been a problem, why don’t you send me to deal with him?”
Fiona smiled back, amused. “If my husband tells me to take care of someone, I’ll do it.”
“Wait,” Xavier said with a grin, “you’re a lawyer, and you’re encouraging a fight? Is that really appropriate?”
Fiona scoffed, “So it’s okay just because your wife tells you to hit someone?”
—
Xavier left Fiona’s office and immediately ran into Gerald, who had just returned. Gerald eyed him and asked, “So? Was Aveline nice to you?”
Xavier responded calmly, “Gerald, once this case is finished, stay away from Josephine and her mother, Courtney. I’m serious.”
Gerald shot back angrily, “Xavier, who I choose to associate with is none of your concern.”
Xavier’s voice grew sharper. “You were so good to her before, but now you’re trying to ruin her. That’s inhuman.”
Leaning closer, Gerald’s tone lowered, dripping with resentment. “Josie saved your life, you heartless bastard.”
Xavier remained composed, his dark eyes steady on Gerald’s. “I was kind to her because I believed she was the one who saved me.”
Gerald frowned. “Believed? What do you mean? Are you saying you doubt Josie saved you?”
Xavier replied quietly, “We grew up together. Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”
“I wouldn’t hurt you. Listen carefully—stay away from that family.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
