Chapter 719
Xavier allowed her to vent her frustration, even as she kicked him lightly. “Alright, let’s drop this topic,” he said with a sigh. “Let’s talk about something else.”
Aveline’s voice was icy as she replied, “Did you know your father is drowning in debt? Over two hundred million, and tens of millions of that comes from loan sharks alone.”
“That’s not my problem,” she added dismissively, her expression hardening.
Xavier’s eyes narrowed slightly as he responded, “So you’re aware of it then.”
“Did your father come to see you?” Aveline’s tone was sharp, probing. “Did he ask you to help clear his debts?”
“Jacob is Josephine’s father,” she said coldly, “If you want to help him, go ahead. But don’t come here to test me.”
Xavier looked genuinely helpless. “I’m not trying to test you. Didn’t I tell you? I want to bankrupt Jacob’s company. When I found out he borrowed from a loan shark, I had them put pressure on him.”
He continued, his voice low but firm, “The interest is compounding fast. Jacob now owes ten million dollars. In a few days, it’ll be even more. He’ll be desperate and start selling off assets.”
“But I guess you’ve already taken your mother’s paintings, so you probably don’t want any of the assets Jacob will be forced to sell, do you?”
Aveline’s face remained cold, her lips pressed tightly together. She said nothing.
Xavier studied her carefully. “Or is there something else you want? The house? The one where Jacob, Courtney, and Josephine live now?”
“As for the company, it’s just an empty shell at this point. If you took it over, you’d have to pour a lot of money into saving it. I don’t think it’s worth it.”
He paused, then added, “But if you really want the company, I can help you get it.”
Aveline didn’t know if Xavier was testing her or genuinely offering help. She was just about to have Fiona file a lawsuit to divide the inheritance and reclaim the assets Jacob had given to Courtney—something she definitely couldn’t share with him.
Her voice was cold and distant. “If you’re done talking, you can leave.”
Xavier’s tone softened, almost pleading. “Honey, you have to tell me what you want so I can help.”
She remained silent, and he warned, “If you don’t say anything, I’ll really let the Sutton family go bankrupt.”
As he spoke, he placed a hand on Aveline’s thigh.
She immediately pushed his hand away and ignored him, picking up her book to read.
Her coldness made Xavier feel a pang of guilt, but there was nothing he could do to break through her wall.
After ending the call, he turned his gaze to Aveline. “Did Jacob come looking for you? Did he give you a hard time?”
Aveline continued to ignore him, eyes fixed on her book.
Just then, Amy’s voice came from outside the door. “Mr. Beltran, the pasta is ready.”
“Okay, got it,” Xavier replied.
He crouched down in front of Aveline again and gently took her hand.
She frowned and tried to pull away, but he held on firmly. “If you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as your agreement to me ruining Jacob’s company—and I’ll do it.”
Aveline shot him a cold look but remained silent.
Xavier studied her deeply and nodded. “Fine, I get it.”
“I’ll go back to the Beltran mansion after dinner. You wouldn’t let me stay here anyway.”
Aveline still didn’t respond. The room fell silent once more.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
