Chapter 721
Xavier spoke with a composed tone, “I’ll have a proper conversation with her.”
Lauren, clearly frustrated, snapped, “You always say that you’ll talk to her, but nothing ever changes. How long has it been since she last came back here?”
Rupert, growing impatient with Lauren’s constant interruptions, stood up and said firmly, “Xavier, come with me upstairs. We’ll discuss this in the study.”
Though Lauren was irritated, she dared not oppose the Patriarch’s authority and quietly watched as Rupert and Xavier disappeared up the staircase.
Once inside the study, Rupert gestured for Xavier to take a seat before asking directly, “Things between you and Aveline still aren’t improving, are they?”
Xavier’s mind drifted to the moment she had pushed him off the bed, and a faint smile crossed his lips. “It’ll get better, just slowly.”
Rupert fixed him with a sharp gaze. “Slowly? Or is it going to slowly get worse?”
Xavier met his grandfather’s eyes calmly. “I misunderstood her before, so of course she’s angry. But once everything about the investigation is clear, things will improve.”
Rupert leaned forward, his tone probing, “Who exactly did you go to Singapore to see?”
Xavier answered, “Aveline asked her senior from school—Julian—to donate blood for me. Julian brought his cousin along, who now works in Singapore.”
“Julian?” Rupert repeated, eyebrows raised.
“Yes, the senior from school who is now running a studio with Aveline.”
“So that’s the architect collaborating with Aveline on the Summit Adventure Park project,” Rupert connected the dots.
“Exactly,” Xavier confirmed.
“Then why didn’t you just ask Julian? Why go all the way to find his cousin?” Rupert questioned.
Xavier shrugged slightly. “Julian isn’t very fond of me.”
Rupert snorted quietly but said no more, likely understanding the reason behind Julian’s coldness toward Xavier.
He picked up his thermos, took a sip of water, then shifted the conversation. “What’s your plan regarding Jacob?”
Xavier’s expression darkened. “I was the one who sent the loan sharks after Jacob.”
Rupert’s eyes widened in surprise. “What? Jacob’s borrowing from loan sharks?”
Xavier nodded. “Apparently, he didn’t dare tell you. He borrowed eight million dollars, but with the interest piling up, it’s already ten million in just a few days.”
“They won’t learn their lesson unless they get a harsh one,” Rupert said firmly.
“You still need to discuss this with Aveline. Make sure she really wants her father to go bankrupt,” the Patriarch advised.
Xavier nodded. “It’s just a company drowning in debt. If it fails and Aveline wants to start a new one later, I’ll help her rebuild.”
Rupert gave him a sharp look. “Suit yourself. Just don’t let things spiral out of control.”
At that moment, Xavier’s phone vibrated. He glanced down to see a message from Amy: [Bryan contacted me.]
The Patriarch glanced over. “That’s enough for now. Get some rest.”
Xavier said goodnight, stood up, and left the study.
Once inside his bedroom, he immediately called Amy. “What does he want?”
As expected, Amy answered, “Remember I told you he went gambling again? He just reached out. He’s asking for more money.”
Xavier frowned. “We can’t scare him off. But tell him to go to Leona. He listens to everything she says, so she should be able to help him.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
