Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 733

Chapter 733

The meal concluded without any disturbances, the atmosphere calm and quiet.

Afterwards, Aveline and Jasmine retreated to their room to rest, while Xavier trailed them upstairs, hoping for another opportunity to talk to Aveline privately.

But once they reached the upper floor, Aveline immediately entered the room with Jasmine. Xavier found himself unable to follow them inside, standing there feeling somewhat powerless.

He pulled out his phone and quickly typed a message to Aveline: [Something came up at the company, I need to return to the city now.] He added, [Would it be possible for the Patriarch and your maternal grandparents to come over for a few days this weekend?]

There was no response from Aveline.

Her maternal grandparents had already informed her about the request, and she was firmly opposed to it. She advised them to simply ignore Xavier’s message.

If Xavier hadn’t been transparent about the true nature of his relationship with Rupert, that was his problem, not hers.

Xavier descended the stairs and got into his car. As he waited for a reply that never came, he realized Aveline was clearly upset.

It seemed the Patriarch would have to intervene personally and invite her maternal grandparents over.

Those grandparents would be unlikely to refuse the Patriarch’s invitation. And once he was present, Aveline wouldn’t have the option of retreating back to the city so easily.

That would also give them a chance to bring Valentina and Mason along for a few days at Mount Ardwood.

Meanwhile, Leona and Josephine had finished lunch and decided to stop by a coffee shop to chat for a while. After their conversation, Leona didn’t head straight home but made her way to the Beltran mansion.

Rupert and Lauren were both at home, and Brielle was there as well, having brought Valentina along with the intention of staying for dinner.

When Leona arrived, Valentina, who had recently developed a fondness for Mason, immediately asked, “Aunt Leona, where’s Mason?”

Leona replied, “He’s still at school. Why aren’t you at kindergarten right now?”

Valentina smiled and said, “I’m done with school for the day.”

That reminded Leona that kindergarten ended earlier than elementary school.

Valentina continued, “I just spoke with my uncle on the phone. He said he’s planning to take Mason and me to Mount Ardwood this weekend to visit my aunt. I need to tell Mason the good news.”

Leona’s expression tightened slightly, a hint of suspicion crossing her face. She wondered what kind of scheme Aveline was playing, considering how hard she had been trying to win over her son lately.

Leona responded cautiously, “Is that so? I’m not sure if Mason will be free this weekend.”

Brielle looked at her curiously. “Why? Does Mason have tutoring?”

Leona asked, “What? Did Josephine come to you? Didn’t we already tell Jacob that we would discuss things with Xavier?”

Lauren didn’t have an answer and simply exchanged a glance with Rupert.

Rupert spoke quietly, “Did you know he’s taken out loans from loan sharks?”

Lauren’s eyes widened in shock. “What? Loan sharks?”

Leona nodded. “Josie told me.”

Brielle frowned, troubled by how desperate things must have become for him to resort to such measures.

Lauren exclaimed, “That Jacob is really reckless, borrowing from loan sharks. If word got out that our in-laws are involved with loan sharks, what would happen to our family’s reputation?”

“It’s a good thing Xavier and Aveline’s marriage certificate isn’t public yet, or I’d be too embarrassed to even leave the house.”

Leona explained, “Josie said her father was so grief-stricken after Bethany’s death that he lost the will to manage the company properly. That’s why things deteriorated. Then a senior executive tricked him into borrowing from loan sharks.”

Rupert scoffed coldly. “He’s the boss of the company, yet he can be fooled by an executive into borrowing from loan sharks? In my opinion, he’s completely incompetent. If the company collapses, it’ll be no great loss.”
