Then she quickly said, “Of course not, of course not. It’s a doctor’s duty to save lives. Your condition was critical, Mr. Beltran, so… there was no other way.”
Xavier’s dark eyes bore into Michelle, so intensely that she didn’t dare meet his gaze and lowered her head to take a drink.
Xavier said calmly, “My brother, Jason, took a job in Kralville after he graduated. Is he still in touch with you, Michelle?”
Michelle replied, “Oh, Jason is in Kralville too? No, we haven’t been in contact.
Xavier gave a faint smile. “That brother of mine really is clueless. I’ll have a word with him.”
Michelle repeated, “You’re too kind, Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier looked at her. “Jason usually comes back to Entora on weekends. When are you heading back to Kralville, Michelle? Jason and I would like to treat you to dinner.”
Michelle quickly replied, “There’s no need to be so kind, Mr. Beltran. I’m busy back in Kralville and leaving tomorrow morning.”
“Is that right? That’s a shame. Well, some other time then.”
“Really, Mr. Beltran, there’s no need.”
A smile touched the corners of Xavier’s mouth. He stopped talking and took a sip of his drink.
In truth, a little probing was enough for this occasion. It wasn’t as if Michelle would be so scared of him that she’d confess everything.
He said goodbye to the others, gave Fiona a meaningful look, and the two of them left the private dining room.
Standing in the hallway, Fiona asked, “Xavier, what the hell are you up to?”
Xavier said calmly, “You and Aveline are so close. Didn’t she tell you what I’ve been looking into lately?”
“I’m heading out. You’re my witness, I wasn’t with any other women tonight. Don’t go saying anything crazy to my wife.”
With that, Xavier went downstairs.
He walked out of the bar, got into his car, and said to Amy, “Michelle looked so uncomfortable seeing me. It seems there was more to Josephine’s blood donation back then.”
“That person must have something on him. Otherwise, the blood donation wouldn’t make him so uneasy around me. After all, it was to save my life, so he shouldn’t feel guilty.”
Amy said, “Yes, Mr. Beltran. Our people are investigating it carefully. We should have news
soon.”
Xavier said calmly, “Josephine and Marcus are together. Find out what’s going on.”
Amy was startled, wondering how those two ended up together.
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
The next morning, Aveline was working in the small conference room when Helena called.
“Ma’am, I’ve arrived at the hotel. Mr. Beltran told me to get the villa’s passcode or key from you so I can go in and clean.”
Aveline had to go down to the lobby to meet her and gave her the passcode for one of the villas.
“I’ve already had someone here clean the other villa, you don’t need to go in.”
“Just clean the villa where the Zimmerman family is staying.”
Helena felt like Aveline was being wary of the Zimmerman family, but she just said okay.
But on her way to the villa, she called Xavier and told him about it.
Xavier felt resigned when he heard, but he suspected Aveline was hiding something in that villa.
If she just disliked him, she wouldn’t be this guarded. After all, he could even get into Garden Estate.
Just then, the phone next to him rang. It was a call from Mason. He answered, confused.
“Hello, Mason?”
Mason’s voice was tearful. “Uncle, Mom won’t help me pack my bags. She won’t let me go to Mount Ardwood with you guys.”
Xavier’s expression darkened slightly. “Where’s your dad?”
“Dad didn’t come home last night.”
Xavier frowned slightly. “Did you call him?”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
