Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 812

**A Divorce 812**

Fuming with rage, Courtney seized a cup from the nightstand, her fingers curling tightly around its fragile form. With a swift motion, she hurled it across the room, but it fell woefully short, crashing to the ground, shards scattering like her shattered emotions.

Paul, irritation etched on his face, spoke with a tone that was both weary and firm. “It’s pointless to unleash your anger on me, Courtney. You know as well as I do that without assistance, Hilda and I would have been utterly lost in this mess.”

Courtney’s eyes narrowed, a storm brewing within her. “Where is Hilda?”

“She’s still at the hotel room, scrubbing the floor,” Paul replied, his voice tinged with frustration.

“Raymond mentioned that no matter how hard she scrubs, the stains will remain. All he needs to do is go to the police, and once they search that room, they’ll uncover the bloodstains,” she retorted, her voice shaking with a mix of anger and despair.

The weight of her recent miscarriage pressed down on Courtney, a heavy blanket of grief and exhaustion. She felt her strength wane, the world around her blurring as darkness crept in, and before she could grasp onto anything solid, she collapsed.

“Mom!” Josephine’s scream pierced the air, panic lacing her voice as she rushed to her mother’s side.

Later that afternoon, Xavier sat in his office, surrounded by a mountain of documents, his brow furrowing in concentration. The rhythmic tapping of Amy’s knock on the door broke his focus. “Mr. Beltran, our team has dug into Jacob’s whereabouts. It’s rather peculiar,” she announced as she stepped in, her expression serious.

Xavier looked up, intrigued. “What did you find out?”

“Jacob followed Josephine from Mount Ardwood back to the city. They both returned home, and then they took the same car to a hotel,” she explained, her voice steady but urgent.

“After that, Courtney had her miscarriage at the hotel, and an ambulance was called. Josephine, a housemaid, and another man accompanied her in the ambulance, but Jacob was nowhere to be found,” she continued, her brow furrowing in confusion.

“We investigated further. After Jacob entered the hotel, he was never seen leaving. Why didn’t he go to the hospital with Courtney when she needed him most?”

“And Josephine mentioned she couldn’t get in touch with him,” Amy added, concern evident in her tone.

Xavier leaned back in his chair, folding his hands thoughtfully on the desk. “Who was the other man? Did you manage to identify him?”

“Yes, we did. His name is Paul, and he owns a gym. After Courtney checked into the hotel, he was seen coming in and out, even staying the night,” Amy replied, her voice steady, but the implications of her words hung heavily in the air.

A sardonic smile crept onto Xavier’s lips, a glimmer of intrigue in his dark eyes. “So, you’re suggesting he’s involved with Courtney?”

“It’s a possibility,” Amy conceded, her expression serious. “But there’s something more alarming.”

Xavier’s gaze sharpened, the depth of his dark eyes signaling his interest. “Go on.”

“Our team managed to hack into the hotel’s security system and retrieved the footage,” Amy said, her tone now urgent as she activated the tablet in her hands, presenting it to Xavier.

As he watched the video, a chill ran down his spine. The coldness of his expression mirrored the unsettling images on the screen. When the footage concluded, he placed the tablet down with a heavy sigh. “That box on the cart… it couldn’t possibly be Jacob, could it?”
