Knowing it was him, Ashley didn’t even bother looking up.

Cindy and Tim didn’t recognize Ethan’s voice. But the moment they heard someone call out “Mr. Smith,” they knew it had to be him.

They looked over and, seeing it really was Ethan, Cindy nudged Ashley with her elbow. “It’s Ethan,” she whispered into her ear.

Before Ashley could reply, Cindy blurted out, “Since he’s here, do you think Chase and that bitch came too?”

Ethan just shrugged.”Yeah, it is.”

His gaze locked onto Ashley as he spoke.

She totally ignored him, pulling the parts out of the package and handing them to Tim. Tim took them, his eyes darting around. He leaned in, voice low. Chase and his guys… looks like they didn’t make it?”

Ashley:”No idea.”

Tim: Since Ethan’s here, there’s no way they wouldn’t show up. They’re probably just running late.”

Matt and Gabriel, though, didn’t hear what they were saying.

But they could tell Tim wasn’t exactly thrilled to see Ethan.

Matt and Gabriel weren’t close with Ethan either. Matt said, “Ethan, we’ve got stuff to do. Catch you later?”

Ethan was just making small talk anyway. He nodded, “You guys do your thing.”

He turned around and headed back. After walking a bit further, he glanced back at Ashley, Tim, and the others.

He saw Matt and Gabriel sidle up to Ashley, striking up a conversation. He just figured they were tight, didn’t think anything of it. After all, Tim was still right there.

He pulled his gaze away, took out his phone, opened WhatsApp, and @-ed Chase and Zark in the

The group chat was dead silent.

Ethan sighed. No one replied, so he just spilled the tea himself [Tim and Ashley, they’re camping here too.]
