Chapter 417
Matt saw her but didn’t look surprised at all. He just gave a polite, smiling nod. “Ms. Mond.”

Long time no see. Seriously, I didn’t expect to run into you out here,” Tanya said, glancing at the stuff he was carrying. She smiled, a perfect, polite curve to her lips. “Matt, are you here with Mr. Cooper and Mr. Hunter? My friends and I are here too, actually. Since we all know each other, why don’t we just hang out together? More people, more fun, right?”
Matt replied. “Jeffery isn’t with me. I’m actually here with some other friends.”
He paused, then politely added, “My friends are waiting for me. I really should get going. We can catch up next time.”
Matt’s response was polite, almost too polite. She’d extended an invitation, but he hadn’t bothered to return the favor. In this context, his courtesy was just a smooth way of creating distance, a polite rejection.
Tanya got it. Her smile didn’t falter.”Okay. Well, you guys have fun then.”
You too.”
Matt finished the polite exchange, gave a slight nod, and then turned to walk away.
“Sis, isn’t that Matt? He’s camping too? Does that mean Jeffery and his crew are here? We’re not a huge group, maybe we should ask them to team up?”
Just then, Catherine and her two friends walked over.
They did have male friends with them, but Ethan was the only hot guy. And Ethan didn’t really hang out with them much. If Matt and Jeffery could join, this camping trip would be way more fun.
Tanya’s expression didn’t flicker.”They’re with their own friends. It wouldn’t work.”
“Oh, okay.”
Catherine and her friends all looked a little disappointed.
One of Catherine’s friends watched Matt walk away and couldn’t help but say, “Matt’s still so hot. I heard he’s been in the military, and he’s apparently still single. I wonder what kind of girl could even land him.”
Another one of Catherine’s friends chimed in, “With Matt’s background, ordinary people don’t even register for him. We should just forget about it.”
Catherine knew it, deep down.
But still, with a guy that amazing right in front of them, how could her mind not wander?
Catherine knew she and Zark were a lost cause.
And Matt…
The more she thought about it, the more it soured Catherine’s mood.
Catherine and her friends left pretty quickly. Tanya’s mood was shot, so she didn’t go with them.
Right after they left, she happened to see Gabriel coming back from his car, grabbing ingredients from the cooler.
Gabriel saw her too. He paused, gave a casual nod, then started to walk away.
Tanya hadn’t expected such a coincidence, that Gabriel was here too.
Seeing Gabriel about to leave, she spoke up. “Care to chat for a bit?”
Gabriel could tell Tanya was in a bad mood. He didn’t know why maybe she’d argued with Chase, or something else. But honestly, none of it mattered
