Chapter 338
This didn’t pacify Skylar, though. She took her friend aside and lowered her voice. “Aidyn is on his way right now,” she murmured. “He has just finished a twelve hour surgery, but he is still coming over because he knows that this might be his only chance to romance Olivia.”
Even though Skylar was whispering, DeAngelo, Olivia, Ava, and Alexander could hear every word that she was saying. Olivia shifted awkwardly in her seat and avoided Alexander’s burning gaze. DeAngelo wished that his wife would just let their daughter be and allow her to make her own decisions in regard to her dating life.
Ava leaned over and whispered in Olivia’s ear. “Is Aidyn the cute guy who used to tutor you in math?”
Alexander froze when he overheard this. Hot jealousy was ripping through his body, and he wanted nothing more than to flip this table. But he was going to have to try to control himself. He couldn’t scare Olivia or act jealous and make it obvious that they were a couple. Olivia would never forgive him for that. Even though anger was pumping through his bloodstream, Alexander had to tamper it down. Somehow, he had to stop himself from ripping Aidyn’s head off whenever he walked through that door.
“It seems like you are being set up on a blind date, Olivia,” Alexander said with a grin, yet his voice was icy.
Olivia swallowed nervously, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“I don’t mind staying so I can chaperone,” he continued and smirked.
Olivia’s entire body flushed with embarrassment. Being stuck to go on an awkward blind date while Ava and Alexander had front row seats to watch was her own version of hell. She had to find a way to get out of this.
Fast.
“I-I’m going to make a pot of coffee to go with the pie,” Olivia stuttered and stood from the table. She reached down and grabbed Ava, forcing her to stand up beside her.
“Uh, I guess I’m going to help,” Ava said, wincing and rubbing her arm from where her friend had

“What am I going to do. Ava?” she hissed. “Whem Aidyn shows up, Alexander is going to caveman on him.”

Ava giggled. “Do you think that they will wrestle in the living room for your love?” she joked. “Do we have time to get an inflatable pool and chocolate syrup? Wouldn’t it be so funny to watch them go at it?”
The room filled with the delicious scent of brewing coffee as the machine began to gurgle.
Olivia rolled her eyes. “Ava, you have to focus! I don’t know what I’m going to do!”
Meanwhile, Polin frowned when she saw how tense her daughter had gotten ever since Skylar showed up unannounced. She took her friend to the corner of the room.
“Maybe you should call Aidyn and tell him not to come over,” Polin said apologetically. “I should have talked this through with Olivia first. This is her home, after all. I don’t want to make her uncomfortable.”
Skylar’s brow furrowed as annoyance zipped down her spine. She couldn’t believe one of her oldest friends was being so unreasonable.
The tension grew between Skylar and Polin as they waited for the other one to cave first. Alexander and DeAngelo were silent at the table, merely sitting there drinking their expensive wine in silence. They were no longer happily chatting about gardening. As the seconds ticked by, Alexander became even more agitated. His eyes were on the door, just waiting for it to open and reveal the ‘cute guy’ from Olivia’s past.
As the coffee brewed in the kitchen, Ava and Olivia were discussing fake emergencies they could use in order to leave. Olivia was so desperate to get out of this awkward situation that she was willing to make up a wild excuse.

“You could say that Mike called you and said the kitten was sick,” Ava suggested as I watched the coffee finish brewing.
My face went pale at her suggestion. “No! I can’t use the kitten. That’s horrible karma.”
I sighed as I gathered mugs from my cardboard. Crouching down, I found one of my large wooden trays and began to stack the coffee supplies on the tray. I put a small cup of sugar with a tiny spoon, a small container of cream, a pitcher of chilled milk, and wooden stirrers. Focusing on this task took my mind off the awkward situation I was in.
