The young nurse was even less impressed.
Why was he taking his bad mood out on her? The man had no class.
Suppressing her anger, she changed his medication, curtly recited the instructions, and left.
Zebulon couldn't believe a mere nurse dared to give him attitude. With a scowl, he swept everything off the bedside table onto the floor.
He was never one to sit still. His injuries were mostly healed anyway, and he could have easily continued his recovery at home.
But his parents insisted, and Zebulon himself wanted to spend more time with Naomi Gonzalez, so he'd agreed to stay in the hospital.
He hadn't expected their relationship to stall; instead, it had only grown more strained.
Zebulon cursed under his breath, packed his things, and called Carter.
"Come get me."
Carter was in the middle of a club, and the call took him by surprise. "Huh? Get you? Where are we going?"
"I'm checking out!"
Zebulon's words stunned Carter. "What? How can you check out in your condition? You've gotta be kidding me!"
"I'm checking out! Just come get me, now!"
When Zebulon threw a tantrum, no one could stop him. Carter was speechless. He wanted to ask what was wrong, but Zebulon sounded like a raging lion, and Carter feared that asking more questions would just make him explode. So, he reluctantly agreed.
"Just so we're clear, if your family comes after me for this, I'm throwing you under the bus."
"Whatever."
Zebulon was too agitated to listen to reason. He just needed to blow off some steam before he went insane.
