Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 63

As soon as the car started, Naomi sneezed.

Lennon glanced back. “Is the scent in the car bothering you?”

Naomi quickly shook her head.

“No, it smells nice. My nose just suddenly felt itchy. Sorry.”

Naomi wouldn't dare ask Lennon to change the air freshener.

His car was perfectly fine; she didn't think she was important enough for him to change it just for her.

Lennon said nothing, but he adjusted the air conditioning vents so the air wasn't blowing directly at her.

Naomi rubbed her nose, and the tickle disappeared completely.

Patricia leaned close to Naomi, wanting to whisper to her, but with Lennon right there in the driver's seat, she was afraid he would overhear them gossiping about him, so she held her tongue.

Once they arrived and Naomi had politely said goodbye to Lennon, Patricia let it all out in a rush. “That guy is so handsome! I don’t get it, Naomi. What did you ever see in Zebulon?”

“Zebulon isn’t as good-looking or as rich as him. How could you not see anyone else?”

Naomi was used to Patricia's dramatic outbursts. Seeing her championing Lennon now, she said with an amused tone, “Have you ever considered the possibility…”

Patricia leaned in, her face serious. “The possibility of what?”

Naomi cleared her throat and made a rare joke. “That Zebulon and I are the same age and our families approve of each other, making an alliance more convenient. Lennon, on the other hand, is not our contemporary, and he's always been too aloof to participate in our social circle’s events. We barely ever saw him. So how was anyone supposed to notice him?”

Patricia nodded sagely. “You have a point.”

Naomi thought she had successfully sidetracked her and was about to leave, but Patricia suddenly grabbed her arm, her eyes sparkling like stars.
