Zebulon strode over to Naomi, leaning over the coffee table with his hands planted on its surface. His intense gaze bore down on her. “Naomi, what is this all about?”
“You hit me for someone else, and you think you’re in the right? Who are you putting on this pitiful act for?”
Naomi almost laughed out loud.
Shouldn’t she feel wronged?
She was just getting a ride home from a colleague to pick up some clothes, and Zebulon treated him that way. Her own family didn’t understand and even forced her to come here and apologize. Was this really her fault?
Naomi swallowed the bitterness in her heart and looked up at Zebulon. “I’ve delivered the apology gift, and I’ve said I’m sorry. I’ll be leaving now.”
With that, Naomi stood up and moved to walk past him.
“Stay right where you are!”
Naomi’s steps faltered for a moment, but she continued walking forward with determination.
“Damn it! Naomi, do you believe I’ll go to your company right now and get you fired?”
Naomi finally snapped. “On what grounds? Who do you think you are to do something like that?”
Seeing Naomi finally get flustered brought a sense of satisfaction to Zebulon.
He straightened up, crossing his arms with a dismissive smirk. “Your parents would be happy to authorize it.”
Naomi’s fingers dug into her palms.
She stared defiantly at Zebulon, her eyes filled with frustration. “What do you want?”
Zebulon walked up to her and reached out to grab her chin, but Naomi turned her head, dodging his touch.
A flicker of something crossed Zebulon’s eyes. He said softly, “Naomi, I told you before. You’re the one who started this with me. Until I say the game is over, you can never quit.”
“Alright, don’t overthink it. Just go back to hanging out with us, and I promise what happened last time won’t happen again.”
When Naomi looked like she was about to refuse, Zebulon added with a cold smile, “If you don’t agree, you’ll lose that internship.”
Naomi gritted her teeth.
