You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 332

Howard kept telling himself that as long as he was still on the boat, there was hope. Anything could happen.

But to his surprise, Patricia spent the entire second half of the night just standing there, not moving an inch, with zero intention of leaving.

Meanwhile, on the speedboat trailing behind the yacht, Hector was sprawled out, one leg crossed over the other, hands tucked behind his head as he stared at the surveillance feed on his laptop.

He let out an impatient groan. “So this is your idea of buying me a drink? Seriously?”

“If you’re that worried about her, why don’t you get in there and fix the problem yourself? What’s the point of watching her on camera, getting all chummy with another guy?”

“You’re such a freak. She only got close to him so they could whisper about something illegal, away from prying ears. And here you are, acting like you just walked in on her cheating.”

He wasn’t wrong.

Patricia’s biggest ally tonight was Oliver.

There was a signal jammer running on the speedboat. Without it, there’s no way she would’ve stayed calm when someone tried to smother her face. She wouldn’t have managed to open her eyes and grab Judy’s wrist when that knife got too close. And she definitely wouldn’t have been able to push Judy into spilling the truth at just the right time.

“Come on, Hector, ease up. I’ll drink with you, alright?” Roger pulled Hector out of the cabin, both of them leaning against the deck railing, letting the river breeze cool them off.

Hector sipped his whiskey and sighed. “Nothing beats freedom, huh?”

“Love is great, but freedom’s even better.”

Roger grinned. “Just don’t start copying Uncle Oliver. Trust me, you don’t want to turn into that old man.”

“Don’t worry, Hector,” Roger said, trying to keep the mood light.

They’d been bickering for years, but it was never serious. When they needed to vent, they always seemed to end up talking to each other.

It was just how they worked.

They fell into some easy, half-hearted conversation, and before long they noticed the yacht was starting to slow down, pulling in toward the dock.

Hector checked his watch. “It’s over already? Wasn’t this supposed to go until nine?”

“If that’s true, why are their hands covered? Are they hiding handcuffs?”

Patricia was the first to step off the yacht, slipping into the backseat of a black SUV. She watched the commotion through the window, steam curling from the travel mug in her hand.

“Let’s go. We need to pick up Nina.”

Howard would be losing his mind right now, desperate to find another way to save the Newtons. At this point, Nina was his best bet.

The Miller family might not have been as powerful as the Newtons in the past, but over the years they’d worked their way up. Now, they were basically running the hotel scene in Riverdale.

“Do you really think the Newtons are going to try to marry into the Millers?” Jackson asked.

Patricia took a sip of hot water and nodded. “It’s the only card they’ve got left. Theo’s still publicly dating Nina. If he goes after anyone else, it’ll destroy the Newtons’ reputation.”

Jackson snorted. “It’s honestly hilarious. Like father, like son. Theo’s been stalling and stalling about marrying Nina, and now he’s going to have to beg her for help. If I were Nina, I’d tell him to get lost. Actually, I’d pretend to agree to the wedding, then bail at the last minute and let their whole family go down in flames.”
