You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 545

“You mean the guest room manager here at the hotel?”

As Patricia said this, Nina glanced around, like she half-expected Patricia to pop up nearby.

But she was nowhere in sight.

“So, what exactly does Mr. Martin want me to do?”

“Just ask him: If you need someone else’s money to buy a house, are you looking for a new dad or something?”

“That’s it?” Nina couldn’t help but be a little surprised.

Patricia just hummed in response.

Nina ended the call and asked someone to bring the guest room manager over.

They sat waiting in the hotel lobby, hanging out in the lounge area.

Nina started off with some small talk, asking about room bookings and business. Every answer was professional and right on point.

Finally, Nina changed the subject, her smile lingering. “So, I heard Mr. McKinney is getting married soon?”

Raymond looked caught off guard for a second, then nodded. “Yes.”

She raised an eyebrow. “Having trouble buying a house?”

Raymond was clearly thrown by the question. He hesitated, then said, “No, actually, I already bought one. Nina, what are you getting at?”

“If you already have a house, why are you asking other people for money?” Nina’s words were light, but there was a warning underneath. “Mr. McKinney, Riverdale isn’t that big. You should think things over before you act. You’re the guest room manager, making eighty grand plus bonuses a year. That’s more than most people in this city. You should take care of your own reputation.”

With that, Nina stood up and walked away.

Raymond scrambled to his feet, watching her leave.

In the hotel business, especially somewhere with this kind of service, manners mattered. Everything had to be just right.

Even after Nina’s figure disappeared around the corner, Raymond was still standing there, trying to wrap his head around what just happened.

It was supposed to be his day off, but he’d had to cover for someone, and there was a management inspection on top of that. Even after it was all over, he still couldn’t figure out what Nina was really getting at.

...

By six, guests started arriving, one car after another winding up the drive. Oliver wrapped his arm around Patricia’s waist as they went upstairs to greet everyone.

Patricia, in her white dress, stood next to Oliver, looking like the perfect match for him in his white shirt and black dress pants.

There were around a dozen Pacific Capital execs, all part of Oliver’s inner circle.

Rumors had already spread: everyone knew the boss was married now.

They also knew his wife was a big deal.

Hector was always dropping hints, going on about how amazing she was, what a powerhouse the boss’s wife really was.

Before meeting her, everyone figured “big deal” meant she came from a powerful family or had some crazy talents.

But when they finally saw her face-to-face, they realized what “big deal” actually meant.

She’d already taken down the Newton family and now she was going after the Martins. How could she not be impressive?

Everyone was shocked, but these were no rookies. Not a hint of surprise showed on any of their faces.
