You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 609

When Hector’s video call flashed across the screen, Oliver couldn’t help but feel a little confused. The two of them usually just called each other—FaceTime was rare territory for a couple of guys like them.

“What’s going on?” Oliver asked.

Hector swung his camera toward a pile of boxes stacked by his door. “You see what your sister-in-law’s been up to? I haven’t been home for a week and now my place looks like a shipping warehouse.”

He picked up a box and held the label to the camera. “Check this out.”

Oliver shot a look at Patricia, who was sitting up in bed, watching him with a smile. “What’s she doing now? Maybe she should open her own package pickup spot. At least she’d get paid for all this.”

Hector shook his head. “I think it’s because I helped her with a delivery last time. I don’t get it. She just started sending everything here.”

Honestly, he was stumped. If that’s all it took to trust someone, Chelsea was way too relaxed. What if he turned out to be some kind of creep?

Oliver tossed his towel back into the bathroom and said, not really paying attention, “Guess you’ll have to keep being the nice guy.”

“Come on, man. You can’t be serious. This isn’t my problem.”

As always, Mr. Padilla kept it short and to the point: “Good neighbors are better than distant relatives.”

Oliver hung up, sent Hector a little cash for the trouble, and texted: Just don’t make a scene. Patricia’s super protective of her sister.

Hector replied almost right away: Great. How about you buy my apartment and let her use it for her deliveries?

He was honestly annoyed. The more he thought about it, the more he figured Oliver might actually go for it.

He was hardly ever home, but the deliveries never stopped. Chelsea claimed she was busy with dog research, but she somehow had all the time in the world for online shopping.

Hector thought that was the end of it—until the next morning. He was about to head out when he spotted the building manager by the elevator, directing a couple of guys who were hauling even more packages to his door.

His eye twitched. “Couldn’t you bring those up to the twentieth floor?”

The manager looked apologetic. “Sorry, Mr. McKee. Building rules say we can’t deliver to an apartment if the owner isn’t home.”

“Then why do you keep bringing them to me?”
