You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 632

Oliver had heard Patricia grumble about Jackson a few times before. Most of her complaints weren’t really about Jackson at all—they were about Cecilia. Patricia would go off about how Cecilia barely raised her own son, didn’t deserve to be called a mother, and even had the nerve to show up and ask Jackson for money. Patricia didn’t mince words—she called her an animal, plain and simple.

Oliver knew that family drama like this happened everywhere. He didn’t bother weighing in, but he never stopped Patricia from handling things her own way. What he really couldn’t stand was anyone from outside messing with his wife’s peace of mind.

The next morning, cars started trickling out of Cloud Peak, the gated community where they lived. Cecilia was so hungry she felt faint, and she dashed out without thinking. But the car she ran toward didn’t even slow down—it just kept going and hit her head-on.

By the time the police showed up, an ambulance had already taken Cecilia to the hospital. The driver told them the fog was thick that morning and he simply hadn’t seen her. Plus, the car had only just pulled out of the gate—who’d expect someone to suddenly appear in their driveway?

The traffic cops tried to smooth things over, suggesting the driver just take responsibility and let insurance handle it all. But the driver refused. He was just the family driver, after all, and if he went along with that, he’d probably lose his job. In the end, Cecilia was left alone in the hospital, stuck paying half her own medical bills.

That morning, Patricia woke up to find Oliver had already gone downstairs to exercise. She slipped into her loungewear and headed down. Through the glass along the staircase, she caught a glimpse of Jaxon and Oliver jogging together in the garden, chatting as they ran.

“Good morning, Miss! You’re up early today!” Marian greeted her with a smile.

“I went to bed early last night,” Patricia replied, her voice cool. Then, suddenly remembering, she asked, “Is Cecilia still here?”

“No, she’s gone. She left already.”

Gone, not just left. Patricia noticed Marian’s careful choice of words. She was following Johns’ instructions to the letter.

“Gone” might mean someone came and took her away. “Left” meant she’d gone on her own. The difference wasn’t lost on Patricia.

“When did she leave?” Patricia asked.

“There was a storm last night—maybe she left then?” Marian answered, but even she didn’t sound sure.

Marian had been pulled aside that morning by Johns and told Mr. Padilla had already taken care of the Cecilia situation. She was told not to say too much to Patricia—just stick to the story that Cecilia was gone. As for the details, Marian had no idea. But she figured if Mr. Padilla handled it, it would be neat and quick.
