You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 677

Actions always mean more than sweet words.

As soon as the turbulence died down, the flight attendant unbuckled and made her way down the aisle, ready to check if the gentleman wanted his meal. She stopped short when she saw Mr. Padilla holding his wife, rocking her gently like he was lulling a child to sleep. He had tucked a blanket around her, her face nestled against his shoulder, and his hand moved in slow, soothing circles on her back.

When he noticed the flight attendant, he raised a finger to his lips, quietly asking for silence. In that moment, she wished she could snap a photo and post it online—just to show everyone that even the ultra-rich can be hopelessly devoted.

Patricia slept so soundly that Oliver carried her off the plane, into the car, and all the way through the Padilla estate without her waking up. By the time they arrived, it was just after midnight.

Selara, up for a late-night drink of water, saw headlights sweep across the yard. She stepped outside just as Oliver appeared, carrying Patricia toward the house.

“Hey, Selara,” Oliver greeted her with a nod.

Selara glanced at the woman in his arms. “She’s asleep?”

“Yeah,” he said softly.

“Go on upstairs, then. Whatever it is, we’ll talk tomorrow. Mom and Dad are already asleep.”

She watched them head up before heading back to her own room, water glass in hand. Her husband Jaxon, half-awake, pulled her close.

“Where’d you go?” he mumbled.

“Just got some water,” Selara replied, then added with a smile, “Your brother just got home. He came in carrying his girl—so careful, so gentle. I almost didn’t recognize him.”

“Why so late?” Jaxon’s voice was rough from sleep.
