You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 717

Patricia was starting to get bored, stuck in traffic. She pulled out her phone and started scrolling through real estate listings nearby, zooming out from the city center. There weren’t many new places. Her eyes landed on the part of town where Chelsea lived.

She spoke up without much thought. “What do you think about living in the same complex as Chelsea?”

Jackson, propping his cheek on his fist as he gripped the steering wheel, let out a sigh. The traffic was driving him crazy. “Not a chance. She’d have me running errands for her all the time.”

“She’s hardly ever home though.”

“That’s the problem. Because she’s never home, she needs someone to pick up after her. Have you seen the mountain of packages outside Hector’s door? Seriously, it could bury me. Twice.”

Patricia tried to picture it but couldn’t quite get there. “Is it really that bad?”

“You should have Mr. McKee show you a photo. It’s wild.” If he ended up living in Chelsea’s building, he’d basically turn into her personal butler, bodyguard, maid, and driver all at once. Was a working guy’s life even worth anything anymore? All day, he’d be crunching numbers with Colby. At night, he’d be at Chelsea’s beck and call. He might as well just work for Patricia instead. At least she paid him. Chelsea was so broke she might even make him foot the bill for her stuff. That was just not happening.

“But I checked. Out of all the places near the financial district, her complex is the priciest and keeps its value the best.”

“The rest are just kind of average.”

Jackson’s face changed in an instant. “Then get it.”

Patricia burst out laughing. “What happened to avoiding Chelsea?”

“For money, I can put up with anything.”

“So impressive.”

“That’s all I’ve got.”

The two of them kept chatting as they made their way to Cloud Peak. Patricia had just reached the door when she saw Hector stomping out of the house, muttering angrily at Oliver behind him. He wasn’t looking where he was going and almost bumped right into her.

Oliver poured her a cup of tea and nodded. “Pretty much.”

“Why not just go? You could visit your family and help with work. Seems like a win-win.”

Oliver looked at her with a warm smile. “Will you come with me, Pattie?”

Patricia blinked, surprised. Oh, so that was what he was waiting for. No wonder Oliver just let Hector rant at the door instead of kicking him out like he usually would. Patricia’s mind started spinning, already plotting her next move. “Today’s Wednesday. How about you go first, and I’ll come by the weekend?”

“No need to rush. I’ll wait. We can go together this weekend. If I show up alone, I’ll never hear the end of it.”

“If my family asks, I won’t know how to explain.”

Patricia could only stare at him. Seriously, what a schemer…
