You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 774

“You complain that I don’t care about you, that you’re always unhappy with me. But honestly, I hate how you control me, how you make me feel trapped. Instead of keeping each other stuck in this miserable marriage, maybe we should just end it now… get a divorce…”

“Patricia!”

“Just shut up!”

Oliver’s eyes were wild and red. He stormed over and his hand closed tight around her throat. The veins in his hand stood out as he yanked her close. His jaw was clenched so hard it trembled, and the anger in his eyes felt sharp enough to cut.

Patricia’s breathing went shallow. She tried to pry his hand away, slapping at his wrist.

Suddenly, he let go. She stumbled back into the wall, clutching her chest, gasping for air. A rough cough racked her whole body. Pain twisted through her stomach. She slid down to the floor by the wall, pointed shakily at the door, and with the last bit of strength she had, she yelled, “Get out!”

Patricia stayed there for a long time before she managed to get up. She called Jackson to come take her to the office. As soon as she got in his car, the smell of blood hit him.

Jackson wrinkled his nose. “What’s that smell? Are you bleeding? Did you get hurt?”

“No,” Patricia muttered. She didn’t want to talk. The fight had drained everything out of her. She couldn’t even find the energy to explain.

Jackson saw her like that and swallowed anything else he wanted to say. He drove all the way to the office building. As she was getting out, he finally spoke up.

“I’m working with Moss in sales now, so sometimes I need to be out visiting clients. If you need anything, just ask Aiden. He technically works for Mr. Padilla, but he’s trustworthy. Not the sharpest guy, but he’s good at heart.”

Jackson thought to himself, I really am too nice. Even if Aiden is clueless sometimes, at least he’s honest.

Patricia just nodded. “You do your thing. Don’t worry about me.”

The doctor started filling out a form. “Let’s do a pregnancy test first, just to be safe.”

After her blood was drawn, Patricia went back to the waiting area and sat quietly, holding her arm, waiting for the doctor to patch her up.

Chelsea leaned over and touched her leg gently. “If you really are pregnant… are you going to tell Oliver? Should I call him?”

“Why would you call him?”

“Well, if you’re pregnant, he should know, right?”

Patricia looked at her. “But why does he have to know?”
