You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 806

Jackson gave it a few more tries, but it was clear he wouldn’t get anything else out of him. He just said, “Take care,” and got back in the car.

The black van pulled away, disappearing into the swirling snow.

“I asked, but he kept quiet. He’s still holding something back.”

“We’ll find out soon enough. Start by digging into Travis’s competitors.”

“And check out Cecilia too. I really don’t buy that this was just a coincidence.”

Jackson just nodded, eyes downcast.

Outside, snow was coming down harder, flakes swirling past the window. Winter hit Riverdale so fast, nobody even had a chance to brace themselves.

On the road to Cloud Peak, Patricia’s phone buzzed. It was Oliver. His voice came through, warm and calm. “The snow’s coming down. Are you home yet?”

“Still on the way.”

“Alright. Take your time, don’t rush.”

They chatted for a bit, mostly Oliver asking and Patricia answering. He wanted to know if she was feeling alright, then what she wanted for dinner.

After she replied, Patricia said, “Mr. Padilla, someone came to see me earlier. He said Pacific Capital is planning to buy his company.”

Up on the top floor of Pacific Capital, Oliver was about to shut down his computer and call it a night. He froze when he heard her.

A shadow crossed his face. Why would they drag his wife into this mess?

“How did he find you?”

Patricia just said, “Okay. Be careful.”

That night, Patricia was getting ready for bed, but Oliver still wasn’t back.

The snow kept falling, layer after layer, until it covered everything in Riverdale. The shrubs in front of the annex were drooping under the weight. Oliver finally showed up, standing in the yard in his dark coat. The cold didn’t seem to touch him at all.

His black coat should have blended into the night, but with all the snow, he stood out even more.

He looked almost otherworldly, staring down at the man on the ground. The guy’s hands were tied, blood staining the snow beside him.

Oliver’s eyes were icy, completely unreadable.

He took a step forward, the snow crunching under his shoe. “Impressive move. You really thought you could sneak someone into my house?”
