You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 870

As she spoke, she unscrewed the lid of the thermos and grinned. “This is real free-range chicken from the countryside. Had to call in a favor for it.”

Patricia eyed the golden broth, her throat suddenly dry. “Do I really have to drink it?”

Chelsea looked at the soup, then at Patricia. “Come on, I need proof you actually tried it. Otherwise, how am I supposed to report back?”

“Seriously, you’ve lost so much weight.”

Patricia just stared back in silence.

Chelsea didn’t give up. “Maggie’s been worried sick about you. Just try a little, okay?”

Patricia let out a long sigh. “Fine. Just a little. That’s it.”

Chelsea flashed her an OK sign, took the bowl Marian handed her, and ladled out some soup. As she did, she started chatting with Marian about making spicy chicken feet for the next meal.

Patricia sat down at the table with her soup. When she noticed Oliver coming toward her, she shot him a look. Just that one glance and Mr. Padilla seemed to get the message right away.

He turned and walked right out of the dining room.

“So, what’s the deal with you and Hector?” Chelsea leaned in, eyes glinting.

“Friends with benefits.”

Patricia nearly choked, coughing hard.

She hadn’t expected Chelsea to just blurt it out like that.

“Whoa, chill!” Chelsea grabbed a bunch of napkins and handed them over. “Why are you so worked up?”

Patricia clutched her stomach, leaning back in her chair. She could feel the baby moving, but her focus was all on Chelsea. “Wait, are you suddenly anti-marriage now too?”

“Who said that? Of course I want to get married! If I didn’t, my dad would totally lose it.”

“So, what about you and…” Patricia stopped, suddenly remembering that Oliver probably didn’t know about any of this.
