You Looked Down on Me Once Now You Look Up (Patricia and Oliver) novel Chapter 879

“You’re not getting away with this. We’re not done until you give me an explanation.”

Hector felt like he’d just been played. The more he looked at that dog, the angrier he got.

It all made sense now.

In bed, Chelsea would whisper sweet things, call him her good boy, and talk him into round after round. But as soon as they were out of bed, she acted like she barely knew him.

She dodged his calls, left his texts on read, and when they did run into each other, she went all formal, calling him Mr. McKee like they were strangers.

No wonder.

No wonder Jackson, that jerk, had been giving him weird advice lately. Acting like he was some relationship guru, telling Hector not to catch feelings. Turns out, he already knew Chelsea was out there meeting other guys.

Honestly, none of them could be trusted.

“An explanation?” Chelsea raised an eyebrow, grabbed a can of beer, popped it open, and took a sip. “Alright.”

“Let’s get married, then.”

“You…” Hector choked on his words.

Chelsea shrugged. “See? You don’t even dare.”

She let out a snort and muttered, “Total wimp.”

“You’re trying to force me into marriage!” Hector’s jaw was tight.

Chelsea looked at him with pure amusement. “Please. If you think this is pressure, you don’t even know what a real forced marriage looks like.”

Jackson finally showed up, way later than everyone else. When Patricia called, he was still in the next city and figured he’d already missed the barbecue, but maybe he could grab a bite if he hurried.

He hadn’t expected to walk right into this mess.

Hanging back, he caught bits of their argument. Apparently, Chelsea’s hookup buddy had just found out she was seeing other people.

Honestly, this was more entertaining than any barbecue.
