“You set this up for me, didn’t you?”
Hector walked straight into Oliver’s office, not even bothering to knock. He shot Oliver a look that said he wasn’t in the mood for games.
“What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play innocent.”
Oliver finally looked up from his paperwork, leaning back a little with his arm resting on the desk. He studied Hector with a skeptical look. “Honestly, I have no idea what you mean.”
“Chelsea.”
“Oh, her? I told you already, it’s for work. She and her team won’t be here long.”
Oliver’s gaze sharpened as he looked Hector over. “But what about you? Weren’t you supposed to be on vacation? Why are you back? Is this just a visit, or are you planning on working?”
Hector froze for a second. If he said he was just stopping by, that meant he’d have to leave soon. But if he admitted he was back to work, he’d be falling right into Oliver’s trap. Everyone already knew Oliver had given him a six-month break, and here he was, cutting it short by his own choice. That meant no more using vacation as an excuse in the future.
Basically, he was stuck. No matter what he said, he felt like he was caught between the two of them, being roasted alive.
Hector stayed quiet, then finally pulled out a chair and sat down, studying Oliver’s face for any sign of a trick. “Are you and Chelsea working together on this?”
“You shouldn’t make accusations without proof.”
