When Winona turned around, she immediately spotted Tyson standing not far away, still putting on his lovesick act.
She frowned, her expression twisting in open distaste, as if she'd just seen something unspeakably filthy, and quickly looked away.
Thankfully, Elvis was only a few steps from her side.
That meant Tyson would think twice before coming over to bother—or disgust—her.
Sue watched Winona's reaction, clearly dying to ask questions but trying hard to hold back. Her curiosity was practically leaking out, her lips trembling with the effort.
Winona couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. "Just ask whatever you want," she said, resigned but amused. "I don't mind."
Sue seized the opportunity. "Winona! Why did you and Tyson break up?" The question tumbled out eagerly. "From the way you two act… it doesn't look like things ended on good terms."
"Yeah, ‘good terms' wouldn't be how I'd describe it." Winona's voice was calm but edged with irony. "Tyson might act devoted, but when it comes to lying, cheating, and betrayal, he's an absolute pro."
She saw no reason to spare Tyson's reputation in front of Sue—every word was true.
Sue's eyes went wide, shock flashing in her gaze. "I never would've guessed! Back in college, he chased after you so earnestly. Out of all your admirers, I really thought he was the best fit for you! And once you got together, your relationship seemed so perfect… Honestly, I was kind of jealous of what you two had."
Winona let out a cold laugh. "Don't feel bad—you weren't the only one he fooled. Even I fell for his act."
After the initial shock, righteous anger flickered across Sue's face.
How could Tyson do that? He'd bent over backwards to win a girl as wonderful as Winona, only to throw it all away for an affair? Unbelievable.
Well, just wait. She'd make sure every college friend who still kept in touch heard about what kind of person Tyson really was.
"But hey, it's fine now. You've got a much better fiancé," Sue muttered under her breath. "Let Tyson stew in his regrets."
Judging by the look on his face, he was already plenty remorseful.
Serves him right.
"That's right."
"Good. So after you marry Mr. Rogers, you won't be far from home." Sue's gaze dropped, her tone tinged with a sigh.
She remembered how she'd fallen for an international student, head over heels, ignoring all advice. The moment she graduated, she'd followed him abroad and married him.
But as the honeymoon phase faded, the cracks began to show.
She couldn't get used to the food, didn't like the lifestyle, and missed home and family desperately. In three years, she hadn't managed a single visit back—there was never enough time.
And in this foreign place, she realized she didn't really know a soul. Every relationship she had was through her husband.
Whenever they argued and she stormed out, there was nowhere for her to go—no one to confide in, no comfort to be found.
Her friends and family were all thousands of miles away. Telling them her troubles would only make them worry, so she kept it to herself.
