A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 215

For a split second, every other sound seemed to fade away.

All Winona could hear were those three words from Elvis’s lips: “I love you.”

She stared at him, utterly stunned.

His eyes were intense and sincere, brimming with a love too deep for words. There wasn’t a hint of jest in his expression.

Winona felt a sudden heat rising behind her eyes—and in her chest, her heart fluttered with warmth.

Honestly, she’d only blurted out that question earlier after seeing that particular scene on screen. She hadn’t expected Elvis to suddenly say those three words to her—let alone with such gravity.

Winona lifted her hand and gently traced his cheek.

“I love you, too.”

The words hit Elvis like a tidal wave. He gazed at her, his own eyes turning a little red around the edges.

He’d said “I love you” to her a thousand times in his heart, but tonight, he’d finally spoken them aloud.

Suddenly, Winona buried her face against his chest and muttered, “Oh gosh, why does this feel so cheesy…”

She was being completely honest.

“Nonsense,” Elvis replied, wrapping his arms around her. “It’s not cheesy at all. In fact, I want you to say it to me often.”

Winona looked up and considered for a moment. Then, smiling shyly, she said again, “Well… I love you.”

A satisfied smile spread across Elvis’s face. He leaned down and kissed her lips. “Mm. I love you, too.”

Just then, Winona caught a tune playing in the background. Turning her head, she realized the movie’s end credits were rolling.

“Oh no… We missed the ending!” she exclaimed, giving herself a playful smack on the forehead. “Should we rewind and watch it again?”

“Sure, though I doubt it ends well,” Elvis said.

“Why’s that?”

“Because the main characters in these movies always seem determined to run straight into danger,” he replied, not holding back his criticism.

“Of course,” Elvis said, standing up at once.

Hand in hand, they headed out for a stroll. Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Tyson sat in silence, eyes fixed on a photo on his phone.

It was a picture from their college days—back when he and Winona hadn’t yet graduated.

In the photo, Winona clung to his arm, her smile radiant and full of happiness.

He, too, wore a small, contented smile—though not as exuberant, it was clear he’d been happy then.

He missed those days more than he could say.

But now…

Now, Winona wouldn’t even accept his roses.

He’d sent his assistant to deliver them, knowing she wouldn’t let him in himself; he’d told his assistant just to leave the flowers and go.
