A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 216

Then his phone rang—it was one of his men.

The man reported that after dropping off the flowers, he’d left but stayed nearby, keeping an eye on the house. Not long after, he watched as a security guard tossed the bouquet out by the gate.

Trying to reassure him, the man suggested maybe the guard had acted on his own.

Tyson scoffed. Who was he kidding? As if any guard would dare throw out flowers meant for Winona without her say-so.

Most likely, Winona hadn’t even glanced at the roses before telling security to get rid of them.

Roses—her favorite.

He remembered how she used to light up whenever he brought her a bouquet. She’d always been so happy.

Now, she couldn’t even be bothered to look at them.

Why? When had roses stopped making her smile?

His thoughts were interrupted by another call, the screen flashing and covering up a photo of the two of them together.

Tyson’s brow furrowed. The caller ID read “Celia.”

He took a deep breath, hesitating. He didn’t really want to answer, but remembering what Celia had lost, he forced himself to pick up, softening his voice. “Celia, what’s wrong?”

“Ty, when are you coming back?” Celia’s tone was needy, bordering on a whine. “I’m bored to death over here all by myself.”

“I’ll be a few more days. If you’re bored, I can have a few people come keep you company.” Tyson tried to soothe her.

“I don’t know anyone here, Ty. What good would a bunch of strangers do?” she complained. “And wasn’t the conference over yesterday? Why aren’t you coming home?”

Because Winona still hasn’t gone back.

But there was no way Tyson would admit the truth.

“I have a couple more deals to finalize here,” he replied vaguely. “Be good, Celia. As soon as I’m done, I’ll fly straight home to you.”

“Business, huh?” Celia’s voice held a note of sarcasm.

Clearly, Jude was feeling guilty about something.

She could use that guilt.

Decision made, Celia dialed Jude’s number.

It rang for ages before he finally picked up, his voice lazy and indifferent. “What is it?”

“Young Master Quincy…” Celia’s voice was timid, almost fragile. “Are you back in the country yet?”

“No.”

“Oh… I was hoping we could meet up, once you got back.”

Jude chuckled. “What, aren’t you worried your Ty will find out?”

“Ugh, don’t mention him,” Celia replied, her tone full of grievance. “His whole world’s about Winona these days…”
