A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 243

Once the woman, the attendant, and the bodyguards were gone, Jocelyn was alone in the suite.

She picked up the dagger again. Thinking of Tyson's question, a cold smile twisted her lips.

Get Elvis?

There was a time when that was all she wanted. But not anymore.

The tip of the blade pricked her finger, drawing a small bead of blood. She didn't seem to feel the pain. In fact, a look of grim satisfaction crossed her face.

One day, she would make Elvis bleed too. She would see him brought low, watch him witness the fall of the Rogers family empire. She wanted to see him destitute, kneeling at her feet, begging for mercy.

And Winona, of course.

What was the fun in making Elvis suffer alone? The woman he loved would have to suffer right alongside him.

...

Tyson's appearance hadn't ruined the mood of Winona and Elvis's walk. After a little while, however, she started to whine. “I'm tired.”

Elvis chuckled and stopped in front of her, bending down.

“Hop on.”

Grinning, Winona leaped onto his back. His large hands securely supported her as he started walking back the way they came.

“Am I heavy?” she whispered in his ear.

“Not at all,” Elvis said. “You're too thin.”

“Once my stomach is better, we'll go eat all sorts of delicious food.”

“Deal.”

“Go ahead, you can bite me,” he said, tilting his head slightly to give her better access. “But be gentle. If you break me, there'll be no one left to carry you.”

“I wouldn't bite you,” she murmured, nuzzling his collar. The clean, crisp scent of him filled her senses. “If I hurt you, I'd be the one who feels bad.”

Elvis laughed again.

“Being cared for by you would make it all worth it.”

Winona huffed. “You're getting good with the sweet talk.”

“It's not sweet talk,” he said, his tone turning serious. “I'm just telling you what's in my heart.”

“But…” A thought struck her. “When did you start liking me?”

Elvis didn't answer right away. Winona started musing aloud. “Was it after you found out about our engagement? Did you develop feelings over time? No, wait. I think you were already looking out for me back in Seastone City. I know! Was it that night at the restaurant when you were drugged, and I helped you? You were grateful and then you started to like me?”
