A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 46

Celia was about to lose her mind.

She'd never—never in her entire life—been treated like this. But it's okay, she thought. If she could just grit her teeth and endure it, Tyson would figure something out and rescue her… he had to.

After Celia was taken away, Simone was beside herself with worry. She paced back and forth, frantically calling Tyson, but he didn't answer. It was over two hours before he finally called her back.

"Hey, Mom. What's up?"

Simone could barely hear him over the thumping music and raucous laughter in the background. There were people shouting, glasses clinking, and even the high-pitched giggles of women flirting.

"Where are you?" Simone demanded, her anger barely contained.

Tyson paused for a moment before answering, "Just out with some friends."

"Celia's been arrested, and you're out partying?"

"What?" Tyson's voice sharpened instantly, his tone tense. "What happened?"

"It's because of that mess with Nona!"

"You mean Winona actually went through with it?" Tyson's temples throbbed.

He hadn't contacted Winona all day, waiting for her to come to him and apologize. But she hadn't made a move—not a single call or message. He'd even tried to get some news from an employee who had visited her that afternoon, asking if Winona had mentioned him. The answer was no.

Unbelievable. She was really taking this all the way.

Frustrated, he'd called up a few buddies to grab drinks. They'd brought along some women for company, but Tyson hadn't touched a single one—he simply wasn't in the mood. He had a couple of drinks, and out of habit, almost dialed Winona to check in, stopping himself at the last second. They were still in a cold war, after all.

"Alright, Mom. Please don't cry." Tyson struggled to keep his frustration in check. "There's still time to fix this. It's not the end of the world."

"I don't care how you do it—just get Celia out of there!"

"I will. Don't worry."

He hung up, then made another call, ordering one of his guys to arrange Celia's bail. He probably should have gone himself—he did care about Celia—but for some reason, he just felt restless and unsettled. So he handed it off.

After the call, Tyson slumped into the sofa, sighing heavily.

"Tyson, man, what's up?" One of his friends slid over, eyeing him with concern. "You look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders."

Then, with a teasing grin, he added, "What's the problem? Trouble in paradise? Your darling little sister comes back from abroad, and now she and your girlfriend are at each other's throats? Sucks to be stuck in the middle, huh?"
