A Vow of Deception, A Vow of Revenge novel Chapter 47

His brothers all knew a thing or two about what was going on between him and Celia.

Of course, no one would ever breathe a word to Winona.

Hearing this, Tyson couldn't help the bitter smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

If only it were that simple.

Wait a minute…

Wasn't Winona acting jealous right now?

A sudden spark lit up in Tyson's eyes.

The only reason Winona was so determined to sue Celia had to be because he'd been too attentive to Celia lately, and now she was jealous.

That had to mean she cared about him, didn't it?

The more Tyson thought about it, the more sense it made.

His mood lifted instantly.

He knew it—Winona had always been sensible. Why else would she suddenly act like this?

When it came down to it, it was because she still cared.

"…Tyson, what are you smiling about?" His friend looked at him in confusion.

Tyson blinked. "Was I smiling?"

"You were, and you looked pretty pleased with yourself."

Tyson let out a little huff, but he had to admit, he felt a strange spark of happiness deep down.

Meanwhile, in a villa across town, Elvis sat in his study, poring over a folder his assistant had just sent over.

Winona had been in a car accident two years ago… Her right leg was permanently damaged…

His eyes darkened.

He'd actually noticed something was off with her leg the night they'd run into each other at the restaurant, when she'd doubled over with stomach pain.

To be fair, she looked perfectly normal most of the time. But if you watched closely, there was a subtle difference in the way she moved.

At first, he'd thought it was just because of her stomach pain. But even after she recovered, her right leg still wasn't quite right.

That's when he realized something was wrong.

That was why he'd asked his mother to contact that specialist.

A tight ache squeezed Elvis's chest.

He stood up, heading for the door.

He wanted to go to the hospital. He wanted to see Winona.

But at the threshold, he paused.

At this hour, she was probably already asleep.

If he showed up now, it would only confuse her—or worse, disturb her rest.

For a moment, Elvis stood by the door, then let out a helpless, self-deprecating laugh.

He never imagined he'd be this impulsive.

Returning to his desk, he picked up the phone and dialed.

"Look into Miss Thorne's accident two years ago. Find out whether it was truly an accident—or something more."

"Yes, Mr. Rogers."

He was late—far too late.

But that was all right. From now on, he would protect her. Always.
