Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 44

Reagan’s POV

Sam and I have slept in the same suite since we arrived.

Sam takes the bedroom, but she leaves the door open as she likes to know I’m around. This upsets Caspian, as she is still closer to me than to him. But should that change, he is more than welcome to sleep on the couch.

A positive outcome of Sam spending time with Caspian is that her nightmares are less intense. I know she still has them, but she doesn’t wake up screaming or crying.

Whereas in my dreams, my dark-haired mystery woman continues to taunt me. When she touches me, I feel alive even though I can’t move or speak. She runs her fingers through my hair and over my skin, sending sparks of electricity to my core. Although I have had many sexual encounters in my life, none of these women has ever made me feel the way she does.

My dreams are so intense that I have to rush to the bathroom most mornings before Sam wakes up. I don’t want her to interrupt me while I deal with my erection. I like to think that the mystery woman is my mate, and l am dreaming of my future. But where is she?

As I dreamed of her again. I was abruptly woken by the sound of someone banging on the door. “Who the hell is that?” Sam yelled, stomping past me. I looked at my watch: 3 am.Sam growled as she opened the door. Making whoever it was aware that she wasn’t happy. “I’m sorry about the time, miss. | just… I just couldn’t wait.” Dr. Monroe’s voice spoke.

“Let him in, Sam,” I said as I positioned a blanket over myself. I’m not concerned about the doctor noticing the bulge in my pants. After all, it’s a natural bodily function.

But I didn’t want Sam to see it. She is still so innocent.T watched Dr. Monroe rush through the door holding a box.” When I got the call yesterday, I couldn’t wait. I drove all night so you would have it first thing, sir,” he said with a beaming smile on his face.

“This is before first thing,” Sam said grumpily as she walked past us, heading back to the bedroom.

Ignoring Sam. “Do you want to get cleaned up before we get started? It may take a while.” Dr. Monroe asked me.

“Or you can get it fitted, and I can walk to the bathroom,”I snapped. It was not just Sam who was tired.

“You ass, he has been driving all night to get this for you.” Callan defended the doctor. He was right. Dr. Monroe didn’t deserve my attitude.

“Sorry, I have just woken up.”

Dr. Monroe smiled briefly at me.

“How about I get some

coffee? I could do with the boost, and you need to wake up.” His eyes went downward. “You could sort yourself out while I get it ready.”When we were ready, I unboxed my new walking aid. Ast pulled it out of its wrappings, I couldn’t help but notice how strange it looked. There was no chance that you could hide it underneath a pair of trousers. Not with that big curve. It was the same as in the picture. But now I held it in my hands. It might not be that different; I don’t know.

“Isn’t it fantastic?” Dr. Monroe beamed as he touched it with the tips of his fingers. I didn’t know what to say. Ts this what my life has come to? “They offered me one of the regular ones as well, but I handed it straight back to them.” He looked at me and shook his head. “It was disgusting and would not do for a man of your stature.” Hę said as he removed something like a sock with an attachment at the bottom. He placed it over my stump and pulled it up above my knee. It felt smooth and tight.” So far, so good.” He said as he took the blade off me. “Now I attach this sock with a screw on it to the blade.” Dr. Monroe said as he read the instructions as he went along, ” Now we put this sock over that one.”

What? That was so fast. “It can’t be that simple, can it?” | asked Dr. Monroe. Who shrugged his shoulders at me as l pulled on the tight long sock.

“How does it feel?” Dr. Monroe asked me.

“So far, so good,” I said as I tried to push upward, but was unsuccessful. Dr. Monroe held out a hand. Normally, I wouldn’t accept help. But this is not the time or the place for that. I took his hand, and he pulled me up, releasing me once I was upright. This was the first time in a long time that I didn’t need a crutch or a piece of furniture to keep myself upright. It felt so good that if I were alone, I might shed a tear.

“I told him, knowing he loves a gory horror movie. His big plan was to try to get Sam to fall asleep during the movie, so she would spend the night in his presence. “It might work.

Get some salted popcorn. She loves the stuff.”

If the next few days go according to plan. I am going to ask her if l am allowed to mark her at the next full moon in two weeks.” He told me. I loved seeing him so happy. He deserves that.

“You have one big problem with that. Sam will want a small gathering. Whereas the Alpha King is to mark his Luna in front of every Alpha in the kingdom. So that they can bless their union and they know who she is.”

“I’Il just have to tell her just before the event. You know, so she can’t back out.” He told me, unhappy that I was spoiling his plans.

“Don’t forget, we have a funeral coming up in the human world. Sam won’t miss that.” I reminded Caspian.

“Maybe I’ll go with you. See how you lived when you were human,” he mocked me.Not with someone trying to kill the Alpha King. They may attempt to kill you and get her instead?” I thought for a second. “As yet, everyone still thinks she is my mate, so she’s safe,”Ttold him. This lie is aided by the fact that we sleep in the same room together.

Caspian looked at me and smiled. “Have you ever thought they may have wanted to kilt you just because you are so annoying?” My brother gently punched me on the shoulder and laughed.

7 can’t believe that. I am a likable person. Everyone likes me,”I said, blowing my own trumpet. Or I hope that is the case. Maybe it is worth considering taking a bodyguard to Frank’s funeral. Just in case he’s right.
