Reagan’s POV
“I believe this is bigger than I first thought,” Richard told me. I grew concerned about my old friend. “Be careful and keep me updated,” I told him. If what he discovered was worth killing me over. He may be painting a target on his own back, and with him being out there alone, no one would know for a while.
“I will,” he said before he hung up the phone. I spun the chair around and stared out of the large window. The view from here has always been a favorite; that’s why I made it my office. “I should help him,” I told myself. But if the intention was to kill me, I could be giving them another opportunity. If the intention was to dethrone me as the Alpha King, then mission accomplished because the title has been handed over. But I didn’t know which one it was.
The door bursting open behind me pulled me from my thoughts. Caspian rushed through it with a huge grin on his face, and he was dragging Sam behind him. She hadn’t come to our suite last night, so Caspian’s movie night had worked. He spun Sam around and stood behind her, placing his arms over her shoulders. Seeing her smile made me so happy.
“Big brother, guess who has agreed to be my mate?” Sam giggled, and Caspian kissed the top of her head. I got up and walked over to them, wrapping my arms around the couple. They deserve one another. “I’m so happy for you both,” I told them. I looked at Caspian and couldn’t help but wish our parents could be here to see the man he had become.”We wanted you to be the first to know,” Sam told me She’s like a sister to me already. So, her being marked by Caspian will make it official.
“I always wanted to claim my mate under the full moon.
Surrounded by my family. If that’s okay with you,” Caspian asked Sam. Knowing Caspian, he would want to mark Sam as soon as possible. He must have a ptan, as the Alpha King must mark his Luna Queen under the full moon,
– allowing the goddess to bless the union.
“If you want family to be there, could I invite Ellie?” Sam asked Caspian. Caspian glanced at me, not sure what he should say. Only Alpha’s, Luna’s, and the Wolf Council are traditionally present at the ceremony. “She is the only family I have, and it would be wrong not to include her.”
Caspian kissed Sam’s hand. “Anything you want, love.” He told her, causing her to giggle again.
“A small personal ceremony, then. Is that okay with you both?” I asked for confirmation. Sam agreed immediately.
I still don’t know how Caspian is going to pull this off without Sam finding out who he is. But he must have a plan.
Sam’s excitement disappeared. “We don’t have to tell anyone until afterward, do we? I already get enough looks without anyone knowing you plan on marking me.” She asked him shyly. I am interested in who is making her feel uncomfortable. Maybe Sasha could find out for me.
Caspian held Sam’s hands. “The only people I need to tell are the person performing the ceremony and my boss.” Sam slowly shook her head in disagreement. I know sheasked him shyly. I am interested in who is making her feel uncomfortable. Maybe Sasha could find out for me.
Caspian held Sam’s hands. “The only people I need to tell are the person performing the ceremony and my boss.” Sam slowly shook her head in disagreement. I know she still thinks the Alpha King hates her. “I need to tell him, Sam, I need the time off work. A lot of time to spend with my new mate.”
Sam thought about it. “He won’t oppose our union, will he? I’m still classified as a rogue, and you’re someone important.”
“Sam,” I said. She looked at me. “Trust me, as long as Caspian is happy, the Alpha King wouldn’t care if you were a frog.” My comment made her snicker.
“If you’re sure,” she said hesitantly. “But no one else. I don’t want the attention.” Caspian comforted her and agreed with what she wanted. Then her stomach growled.
“Why don’t you head for breakfast, love? I wouldn’t want you wasting away before our big day. Phillip will meet you there, and if anyone gives you any problems. Let him know,” Caspian told her. He couldn’t have missed her comment about people staring at her.
Sam skipped out of the room. As soon as the door was closed. Caspian turned towards me with a murderous look on his face. “I want names. I want to know exactly what they did to her. I want to make it clear to them why they are being tortured. Then, when they beg for death, theywill know who they wronged.” He spat furiously. I understood his rage. But I couldn’t tell him who had done it. Because when the opportunity arises, I will be the one who gets to Axel and Lily first.
“That would be too merciful for them,” I told my brother.
“I will let Sam mark me. But there will be a commotion, and my presence will be needed. This will prevent me from marking her. The next morning, I will tell Sam that the Alpha King had changed his mind about his chosen mate. Allowing Sam and me to pick up where we left off.
Only this time we will have an audience.””This isn’t going to work,” I told him.
“It has to. I can’t just tell her l am the Alpha King. She thinks I hate her.” He stated as he got flustered.
“Your relationship is based on a lie,” I told him.
“A lie you told her,” he reminded me.
“I wouldn’t have had to lie if she hadn’t been thrown into the dungeons.” I snapped back defensively.
“Look, we could go around like this for ages,” Caspian told me. “Either way, Sam has agreed to be my mate. She will find out soon enough who I am. I just think it should be after our union. That way, she can’t back out, and I will have the rest of my life to make it up to her.”
“She may kill you and cut your life short,” I smirked, unable to hide my smile. Caspian smiled and hugged me.
“I never thanked you for bringing her home to me.” I was so glad that he was happy. She deserved the best, and to me, that was Caspian. Goddess help him when she finds out, though.
