Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 49

Reagan’s POV

As we planned on traveling further than we intended to.

We all felt it would be best to stay in a hotel and arrive at the Shadow Pack in the morning. Sam was nervous as hell as we checked in, frequently questioning if she was doing the right thing.

Until recently, she was still having nightmares about what they did to her. So I didn’t answer her because I think she is crazy for wanting to go back, no matter the reason.

I’m concerned that going back and seeing them will unleash a flood of terrible memories. But on the other hand, Sam will have a first-row seat to their murder, and after tomorrow, she will know that they can never hurt her again.

To calm Sam, the three of us decided to let our wolves go for a run. This would be the first time Callan would partake in a group run since becoming an amputee.

After nightfall, we drove miles from everywhere to a wooded area. I watched Sam and Phillip shift before I removed my clothes. Callan’s nerves grew as I removed my clothes and prosthetic. I sat on the ground, waiting for him. I waited, and I waited. “What’s wrong?” I asked him eventually. He whimpered and told me he was embarrassed. His reluctance annoyed me. “You haven’t even tried, and you are prepared to give up? Are you an Alpha or an Omega? Because I know how you’re acting.” Isnapped, trying to provoke him into shifting. But it didn* work, and he became sad. “I shouldn’t have said that. I just worry that if we don’t shift, eventually we will no longer be able to.”Tremember my father telling me stories about wolves who decided to live among the humans. They never shifted, and their wolves lived in their consciousness, eventually disappearing entirely. Callan must have remembered this story as well, as my bones began to snap and pop. It hurt a little, but in a good way.

It had been so long since I had shifted, since I had been pushed to the back of my wolf’s consciousness. I was proud of him. After shifting, he didn’t move. I knew he needed some more encouragement. “Are you going after them?” I asked him. Curious if he wanted to do his own

‘ thing or if he was going to follow Zola and Ted, Phillip’s wolf.

“In a minute. I just want to enjoy being in my form.” He told me happier than earlier. When he felt ready, he got to his paws, wobbling a little.

“You are capable of anything,” I assured my Alpha wolf. He moved his front paws, but the back one stayed planted. ” That’s not how you walk,” I mocked. My insult made Callan lie down unhappily. Has his confidence taken such a knock that he has even forgotten the simplest of tasks?

“Don’t, Reagan. I already feel less than, and I don’t need you judging me.” He was right.

“No,” she shook her head. “Frank died, and the only thing to remember him by was the picture I now have. My parents died, and all I have of them is that necklace. Theydeserve to be remembered. I deserve to have it with me, and when the time is right, I will pass it on to my children as an heirtoom.”

“Don’t worry, Sam. Nothing will happen to you. You are here on the Alpha King’s behalf, and you have Reagan and me to protect you,” Phillip said gleefully. But he didn’t know what had happened to Sam here.

“Thanks, Phillip. Don’t forget, there will be Jaxon and Xavier as well.” I have heard of Jaxon, as Ellie had a run-in with him a while ago. He sounded pathetic, but Sam never said anything bad about him. But I had never heard of Xavier. “No one messes with Xavier; he’s the pack’s head warrior. Not even the Alpha messes with him.” She smiled.

“Tremember Xavier kept beating Axel during training, so Axel stopped going, as he was embarrassed that he wasn’t the strongest in the pack.” Her comment made me snicker. He should be upset. “If anyone ever beat Xavier, they would know that they beat him because of their abilities, not because he went easy on them. Xavier is not afraid of anyone, and he does everything by the book.” She looked out of the window. “Except for that once,” she said sadly. I guessed there was more to that story, but she didn’t elaborate. I was dying to ask, though.
