Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 53

Sam’s POV

A huge grin was on Lily’s face as she walked upstairs. ” Guess you needed me, after all?” She sneered when she saw me. Drake and Phillip were behind her.

“I didn’t need you at all. Drake did,” I responded. Her smile dropped slightly, but it reappeared when she sniffed the air.

“Looking for something. Were you, Samantha?” I bet she could smell the wolfsbane. She knew how important that necklace was to me. I wanted to rip her apart, but that would make me no better than she was. I bet she wiped her ass with it and flushed it down the toilet or something disgusting like that.

“I looked around while I waited for you all. You took so long to get here that I was bored. Now that you’re here, you can open the safe, and I can do my job,” I responded casually. Lily walked past me, calling me a liar. To be fair, she was right. So, I didn’t respond.

Lily led the way, followed by Drake, then me, and Phillip.

Phillip stood in the doorway as we entered the Alpha’s office. Lily walked straight to the safe, pressed a few numbers, and it beeped before opening. “Now you can change the combination, Drake,” I told him.

“No frigging chance. This is the Alpha’s safe,” Lily yelled.”As I told you outside, this invitation is to be guarded only by Drake. Only he is to know the combination to the safe.

So that he, and he alone, could hand it over to Axel.” I paused for a second. “Besides, you’re not the Alpha either, so why do you have the combination?”

“I am the Luna. I have every right to access what is in that safe,” Lily yelled.

“Actually. You don’t. That is the Alpha’s safe. Not the Alpha and Luna safe. If it is being shared, I will have to report that violation to the Wolf Council, as the pack’s Alpha allows you to have access to confidential information. Information that should be for his eyes only,” Phillip told her. I tried to hold back my smile, but Lily being scolded was so funny.

Lily snapped her head toward me. “Don’t forget, I know all of your secrets, Samantha.” She said, licking her teeth as if she were sharpening them. The only secret I had was the hiding place of my necklace, and I didn’t think I even told her about that. What is it she thinks she knows?

I’d had enough of her. I stood up as straight as I could. “I say again. I agreed to leave this invitation in Drake’s custody. No one else’s. I was being lenient out of respect for him. Either he changes the combination so only he has access, or I deface the invitation, and we leave. I am about done playing games in this pack.” Drake didn’t hesitate as he maneuvered around the desk and then Lily to change the code. I smiled as Lily scowled.I laid the invitation flat in the safe and locked it. Drake went to walk out of the room, followed by Lily. Thank goodness it was time to leave. I followed Lily toward the door. As soon as Drake was outside of it, Lily slammed the door shut and locked it. With these reinforced doors, my only way out is to get past Lily. What exactly is she hoping to achieve by doing this?

She leaned against the door and smirked at me. “Now that-I have the invitation. I can finish what I started.” Does she think she can scare me? Unlike before, I’m neither shackled nor vulnerable. “Give her hell, Sam.” Zola urged me on. I waited to see what Lily had to say.

“Do you remember how you cried for mercy, Samantha?

Do you remember how you begged for your meaningless life?” She said in a mocking tone.

“Is she trying to mess with my mind?” I asked Zola. Sure, Lily still haunts me in my sleep. But being with Caspian, I don’t have to worry, as the mate bond helps with that.

Yes, I still break down when I am dragged into a dark hole and shackled to a wall. Who wouldn’t? But no, I will not let this bitch get the better of me again. Not mentally and certainly not physically.

Lily lunged at me with her claws out. But I blocked her attack with my left hand and punched her in the gut with my right. She doubled over. “I am not the weak, pathetic girl you once knew. Nor am I stupid enough to call anyone a friend who hasn’t earned the title.” I paused as she tried to catch her breath. “I should thank you for that, because now l am the best version of myself. As well as having a family that loves and respects me. Despite what you did to me, l am happy,” I announced proudly.

“You have nothing. You are nothing,” she yelled as she lunged again, trying to grab my hair. But with it being so short, she only got hold of the ends. I grabbed Lily by the throat and lifted her off the floor. All that weight training has enhanced my strength. Lily clawed at my hand, trying to get me to release her. It was nothing compared to the pain she had caused me in the past. I squeezed my hand, and she started gasping. I thought of Garth as I carried on squeezing. How Lily played a key role in his death. But he wouldn’t want me to do this. “He’s not here. Carry on, give her what she deserves.” Zola reminded me.

“Oh, she will get what she deserves. But on my terms.

Don’t forget she is coming to the palace, and she will see me with Caspian. He may not be an Alpha, but he’s important. That will upset her.” I answered.

I smiled as I dropped Lily to the ground. I heard the material of her dress tear as her body landed on the floor.

She coughed and spluttered, trying to catch her breath.” You bitch, I’m going to have you killed once Axel gets home.” She finally managed to speak.

Lily scoffed. “I, Lily Thorne, accept the rejection of Reagan Stark as my fated mate. I have a powerful Alpha mate.

One that can protect and please me. Not like the weak cripple he is. He doesn’t deserve me.” Phillip snickered after Lily accepted Reagan’s rejection. He looked like he was about to say something. But Reagan grabbed his chest, and his knees buckled, so we helped him into the car. Lily was making fun of Reagan behind us.

“I’m sorry. Callan and I were so torn when the mate bond kicked in,” he said through the pain.”It’s fine. We handled it. You need to focus on yourself, l told him,” remembering the pain of when my mate bond was severed.

“Did you get what you wanted?” he inquired.

“It was gone,” I said sadly. “That bitch must have found it and destroyed it, knowing it would hurt me. It’s sad. But I am glad I tried. At least now I know it’s gone.’

“I took a

deep breath. “I will always have my memories. They are more valuable than anything.” | looked at my injured hand, which the mousetrap had hurt. “At least now I get to go and see Ellie,” I said happily.

“Great, as this day hasn’t been bad enough,” Reagan said sarcastically.

“Behave, Reagan. Ellie is lovely,” I told him, but he knows how I feel about her.

“Can you imagine if Ellie was Reagan’s second chance, mate?” Zola said hopefully. But I knew that couldn’t happen as Ellie was never to be given a mate. It’s her curse.
