Reagan’s POV

It was 5 am, and we were leaving. “‘ll see you in a couple of days,” Ellie told Sam in an attempt to console her.

“I didn’t get to see you,” Sam wailed. I wanted to feel guilty for taking up so much of Ellie’s time. But I didn’t, not in the slightest.

“Hey. Stop that. You will be so busy over the next few days getting things ready. Then I will be there. I promise.”

“But I won’t get to see you then either,” Sam complained.

This was going nowhere. I nudged Phillip, as he had something to give Ellie.

“Sorry to interrupt. But I have this for you, Ellie,” Phillip said, handing over her invitation. All the standard guests got a bronzed printed invitation. Whereas Ellie was to have a different.

“It’s gold,” Sam remarked.

“I was instructed by the Alpha King himself to ensure your one guest received a VIP invitation. He wants her to have the best experience possible whilst she is at the palace.

He hopes this makes up for any misunderstandings between the two of you,” Phillip told Sam in front of Ellie.

Sam’s eyes widened when Ellie folded her arms.

“What sort of misunderstanding has he had with my sister?” Ellie asked quickly. Phillip’s jaw dropped, and he didn’t know what to say.

“It’s nothing, just a misunderstanding when I arrived. You know, because I had rogue status,” Sam said casually. “He has been trying to get in my good books ever since then.” Sam fake-laughed and decided to get in the car before Ellie could ask any more questions.

I approached Ellie, “Regan, I’m not sure if it’s going to be safe for them at the palace. What if there are any more misunderstandings?” She used air quotes.

“There won’t be, and this invitation gets you directly escorted to Sam.”

Ellie still looked concerned.

. “Fine. What do I wear to a fancy place like that?”

“You could wear a trash bag for all anyone cares. The important thing is that you are there for Sam,” I told her, smirking. Thinking that no matter what she wears, it will be on my bedroom floor later that night.

“Whatever,” Ellie said, and before she could ask any more questions, I kissed her goodbye and left.

The driving on the way back had to be shared between Phillip and Sam. Caspian had a car adapted for me to drive, but it wasn’t ready before we left. Being in a fast car, Sam drove carefully. But it didn’t matter, as it was to give Phillip a break.Something Ellie said made me want to remind Sam of something important. “You know, it’s only two nights untit the full moon.” Her face froze. I guess she had forgotten about the events that were happening in two nights’ time.

She went into full-blown mode. Mainly about what to wear. “I don’t want anything white,” she said adamantly.

“When I thought you were gone. I was a mess, and I talked to someone about my feelings. Fair enough, Evelyn wasn’t the best choice. But the point is, I talked, and it helped me.

I am always here for you,” He said reassuringly, making me smile. He was growing up.”What’s been happening while I have been gone?” I asked.

“Nothing much. The Wolf Council is doing its job. I have been busy organizing the ceremony, and oh yeah, Richard wanted to speak to you. I hope he will be here for our little service. I need to let him know the plan so he doesn’t give anything away.”

Knowing Richard wanted to speak to me, 1 rang him straight away. “Reagan, your attempted murder. It’s bigger than I first thought.”

“Will you be able to give me a report of your findings tomorrow when you get here?” I asked.

‘There is just one more thing. I wanted Ellie to show me exactly where she found you. I have a suspicion about something. Do you think she will have time to meet me before she makes her way to the palace?” he asked.

“You would have to ask Ellie. She is a law unto herself, as she is not governed by the kingdom. I bet if she can, she will.”

“Fabulous,” Richard exclaimed. “ill call her immediately.”

With that, I wished my brother a good night and made my way to bed for some much-needed sleep. It is going to be crazy around here in the next few days. After all, it’s not every day the Alpha King takes a mate.
