Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 64

Reagan’s POV

While we were away, Sasha worked alongside Caspian.

Liaising with event planners for the multiple events that were about to take place at the palace.

As per his policy, with her being pregnant, she couldn’t work security physically. So she was appointed to help Sam. This put everyone’s mind at rest, as we all knew she would keep Sam safe.

“Sam’s upset about something. Sasha is asking if you or Caspian could visit her,” Phillip told me. Rather than disturb Caspian, I took it upon myself to find out what was upsetting the most important person in the building. As l walked through the hallways, I caught the scent of someone who shouldn’t be here, Evelyn. It made me angry that she was here.

I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

When I saw Sasha’s face, I took the opportunity to ask her why Evelyn was still in the building. “She had been trying desperately to get a meeting with Caspian. To discuss the rogue situation in the Crescent Moon Pack. She’s here because you were dealing with it previously. She now believes it is an issue for the Alpha King to deal with.” I hushed her in case Sam was listening. “In my opinion, she was trying to get a personal meeting with him to try to seduce him. But that wasn’t happening on my watch. Glad you’re back, Reagan. Evelyn is your problem now.”I never gave Sasha much credit in the past, but she is good at what she does. “Speaking of problems, what’s up with Sam?”

“She took a call from Ellie and then started to cry.

Emotional stuff is not my thing, so I mindlinked Phillip.” She said, walking past me, “Another problem for you to deal with,” she said, snickering.

just looked at Sasha as she walked away. I couldn’t believe that out of the two of them, the one who had the most empathy was Phillip. Hopefully, she will soften up once the baby arrives.

As I entered the room, I was struck by the vision in front of me. I fought back tears at the sight of Sam in my mother’s ceremonial dress. She was a vision, and despite knowing better, it was as if it was made for her. “You look stunning,” I told her as I approached. As she turned around, I could see she had been crying.

“What’s wrong, Sam?” I asked, Lifting her chin. I wanted to comfort her, but I couldn’t risk tainting the dress with my scent. –

She didn’t smile. Instead, her eyes filled with tears. “Ellie called, she met up with Richard, and then on her way here, Bessie broke down, and she may not make it in time,” she said in one quick sentence. Before the tears rolled out of her eyes.

“‘ll go and get her,” I said instantly, trying to stay positive.

Sam shook her head. “She’d been trying to get in touch with Richard so he could give her a ride. She’s just having a bit of trouble getting in touch with him. Reagan, I can’t do this without her.”

I placed my hands gently on Sam’s shoulders. “Don’t worry. She will get here safely, and don’t worry about Caspian. He would wait an eternity for you to be ready,” I told her, all the while telling myself it would solve one problem of Caspian’s if it was delayed.

“I can’t help but feel in the pit of my stomach that something is wrong.”

“That’s nerves. It’s to be expected.” I reassured her. To which she snickered.

* “Probably, and Ellie is on her way. It’s not like she isn’t coming,” she said, comforting herself. She then turned to look in the mirror. “I wasn’t going to go with a white dress, but this is beautiful, and it’s not fair to your mom to keep this beautiful dress hidden away,” she told me.

“Caspian is a lucky man,” I told Sam. Knowing I will never have a fated mate, I can only wish the pair of them every happiness in the world.

After cheering Sam up, I returned to Caspian’s office and told him what had happened. “I’ll send Xander to pick both Ellie and Richard up. That way, I can guarantee they are both here. It would at least put her mind at rest. I want Sam to know l am her mate, and l am going nowhere.” Caspian said. I don’t think Sam is the only one who is nervous.”Fancy a quick run, one last time?” I asked my brother.

Caspian looked at me.

“It wasn’t important enough for me to deal with, even then. I used it as an excuse to visit your father. Because I was sick of you. You and your ridiculous advances and your vulgar clothes. Out of respect for your father, I was going to ask him politely to keep you at home, and if he refused, I was going to make him.” I smirked. “But now l don’t have to, and Caspian sees you for what you are, a nobody. Have some self-respect and leave. Before you are made too.” It was mean, but she hadn’t taken the hint previously. I also didn’t want her to get an inkling of what was going on later.

As I went to join my brother. I found him pacing and running his hands through his hair. “What’s wrong?”I asked him.

“Reagan. Xander found Ellie’s truck just like you said in a lay-by. But she wasn’t there. Not wanting to waste time searching for Ellie, he knew Richard had her number. So, Xander tried to contact Richard, but his mobile kept going to voicemail, so he accessed the tracker on his vehicle. It hadn’t moved all day. So, he went to get him.” He ran his hands through his hair. “Reagan. Oh, goddess. How do I say this?” He bent over and took a deep breath. “Reagan.

Richard is dead. Ripped apart by an animal.”

“Oh, my goddess, Ellie,” I said, feeling nauseous.

“Xander informed the Wolf Council, they were the ones who summoned us. Reagan, I have to ask. Is it possible that Ellie killed Richard?” I shook my head. “Ellie may be a wolf, but her wolf is weak. If Ellie were to kill someone, she would be in her human form, and she certainly would kill anyone by ripping them apart.”

“So, who the hell killed Richard?”

Not that Richard’s death wasn’t important, and I will be personally looking into it. But I have another question.

One that I know Sam will want answering, “Where the hell is Ellie?”
