Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 84

Ellie’s POV

I’m not bothered by the sight of blood or bodily fluids. Not even when I was young. It was part of my decision to become a vet. But as I was leaving the packhouse, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror.! resembled Carrie on prom night. Only Carrie was wearing a dress, and I was naked.

There was no way that I was going anywhere looking like that. Much to Kiki’s annoyance, I ran upstairs to the first bedroom I found and jumped into the shower. The cold water made me shiver, but it didn’t matter. ALL needed fo do was wash the blood off me. I quickly dried off and grabbed a shirt before leaving the room.

“Where the hell have you been?” Reagan questioned me as I approached the car.

“Taking care of business,” I responded. “Then cleaning up the mess,” | said, tugging my wet hair. He seemed to understand what I meant and gave me a small smile and nod of approval.

As I was walking toward the passenger seat, Sam hopped out of the back and said l should get in the back with Sasha. As she needed me.

When I looked inside the back of the car, I understood what Sam meant. Sasha was curled up on the back seat, rocking backward and forward, sobbing her heart out. Without hesitation, I climbed in and pulled her to me so that her head was on my lap. Kiki and I both felt sick to our stomachs at the smell of fresh blood. Sasha’s wolf would have healed any bleeding wounds by now, so it could only be coming from one place.

I stroked her hair, and with her being a shifter, my calming scent should work. I just need her to relax.

“Ellie is going to make you

comfortable until I get you home, Sasha. Just take deep breaths and listen to my voice. You’re safe, and we are taking you home to your mate.”

“Will the baby be okay?” Sam asked. No doubt she could smell blood, but she may not have known what it meant.

“Without examining her or a scan, I am going to assume that she has Lost the baby,” I said sadly, focusing on Sasha. Sam immediately started to cry, blaming herself.

“It was Johnson’s fault. Not yours,” I snapped. “He was an evil piece of shit that can’t hurt anyone else. He got what he deserved.” My words were of no comfort to Sam. Who kept turning around and looking at Sasha, telling her how sorry she was.

During the long drive to the palace, I only saw the back of Reagan’s head. He didn’t say a word the entire journey back to the palace.

Before we passed the palace gates, he took a road off to the left.

Eventually, he stopped outside a small medical facility. He didn’t say anything as he got out of the car, walked over to the front door, and kicked it open.

He returned to the car and opened the door, reaching in for Sasha. “I need to know.” He demanded, while looking at me.

“Need to know what?” Sam asked.

“He needs to know if she lost the baby,” I told her. That could be the only reason we are at a medical facility.

“Ellie. Dr. Monroe is dead. You are the only person in these parts who will know how to operate the equipment. You need to do this.”

“I’m used to working with animals.” I closed my eyes, knowing he was right. Sasha does deserve to know, “The equipment will be similar, though.” I told Reagan, confirming I was onboard.

Reagan carried Sasha ever so gently to an examination trolley and comforted her. I looked around for a Doppler or an ultrasound machine. I found both together in a separate room. planned to use the Doppler first, as I was familiar with it. The ultrasound machine looked complicated

When I got back, Sasha started to stir. “It’s okay, Sasha. Ellie is here.

Ellie is going to check on you. Trust Ellie to do what she does best.” I told her in a soothing tone. As my calming ability worked. I unbuttoned her blood-soaked trousers.

“Are you sure? She was in so much pain.”

I handed her the picture of the fetus from the ultrasound. “Sasha is pregnant,” I repeated. That is all she needed to know. If Phillip wants her to know more, that is up to him.

After Sasha was placed back in the car, the atmosphere changed. Sam began to talk about what happened to them.

“I didn’t see Sunak among the dead,” Reagan said.

“You wouLdn’t,” Sam informed him. “I remember that he left while you were at the gates. He was coming here.” She went quiet again. “He came to tell Caspian that he head me hostage.”

I heard the leather of the steering wheel creak as Reagan must have tightened his grip. “More like threaten him,” Reagan said before going quiet, and the car sped up. Once outside the palace, he jumped out, telling us Phillip was on his way.

“I don’t know what that was about, but l am guessing it’s nothing good,”

I said to Sam.

When Phillip arrived, Sam told him what had happened to Sasha. ” Sunak’s here talking privately with Caspian.” He said angrily. He went to rush off, just as Reagan did. “No, Sasha needs you. Your baby needs you,” I told him. Phillip jumped in the car and held Sasha, kissing her and apologizing for not being there for her when she needed him the most. It was heartwarming to see how much he loved her, and it all started with a mate bond.

I felt guilty for not staying to help. But I needed to get my bag from the palace garden. It was time to leave. “Are you coming home with me, Sam?” I half expected her to see Phillip and Sasha, and want that sort of relationship for herself. Who could blame her? It would mean eternal love and happiness.

“Home is where your family is. Let’s go home, Ellie.”
