The room had fallen silent again, with just the sound of Madison and Sam's breaths audible.

No one knew how much time had passed until a notification broke the silence.

The phone Madison had left on the coffee table lit up, pulling them both out of their warm, intimate bubble.

Though reluctant, Sam let Madison go. "You have a message."

Madison tilted her head toward the table. Upon seeing it was a message from Johnny, she got annoyed.

She withdrew her gaze, her tone calm but tinged with obvious disdain. "It's nothing. There's no need to bother with someone unimportant."

As if remembering something, she smiled brightly. "Oh! I have something to give you. Wait a moment."

Sam watched her walk away with a spring in her step. He then looked at the phone on the coffee table that hadn't gone dark yet, his gaze brighter than ever.

Madison just called Johnny an unimportant person. Did that mean he was already a thing of the past?

Could Sam really trust her?

While he was lost in thought, Madison returned with a bright smile and a gift bag. "Ta-da!"

She held the bag out to him as though presenting a treasure. With a cheerful look in her eyes, she said, "Sam, while I was out shopping, I saw this suit and immediately thought of you.

"I'm sure it'll look even better on you than on the model. Want to try it on?" Madison asked, looking at him expectantly.

Her gaze was bright and lively, sparkling like sunlight on water, so captivating it was impossible to refuse her.

Sam didn't want to turn her down either. He stared intently at her, his dark eyes brimming with suppressed emotion and affection.

After five years, Maddie was finally buying him clothes again.

He drew a quiet, steadying breath, trying to calm the storm in his heart. Still, his trembling hands betrayed him.

He hesitated for a long moment before rasping, "Okay. I'll go upstairs and try it on for you."

Within ten minutes, Sam had changed and descended the stairs, one step at a time.

Hearing his footsteps, Madison looked up instinctively and was dumbfounded again.
