After everyone had eaten their fill, they headed upstairs to the jacuzzis.
Once in the water, Madison sat with Janet at the edge of the jacuzzi and texted Sam.
"Sam, there's a sudden change in my plans tonight. I won't be back today. I'm going to stay at the hotel for the night."
"What happened?" Sam's reply came quickly.
Madison explained everything truthfully. Worried he might not believe her, she begged Janet to take a photo with her and sent it.
"Sam, although I'm not coming back tonight, I'll be with Jan the whole time, so don't overthink things. Oh, do you still remember Jan?
"She's Janet Burke, my childhood friend. I got to see her tonight, and we've reconciled."
In the CEO's office at Goodwin Corp, Sam stared at the close-up photo of Madison with an incredibly tender gaze.
As for Janet, who was also in the picture, he didn't even spare her a glance. He replied, "Alright."
Though he said that, a twinge of unease and disappointment lingered in his chest.
After a moment of thought, he summoned Benjamin. "Have someone keep track of Madison at all times. Report to me immediately if anything happens."
With a nod, Benjamin carried out the order promptly.
…
Noticing the text Madison had sent Sam, Janet rolled her eyes in mock annoyance. "Who said we've reconciled?"
"But we really have reconciled, Ms. Burke. Here, let me feed you a grape."
Madison, in a playful, flattering way, held a grape up to Janet's mouth.
