After a long time, Sam looked down at Madison, who was deep asleep in his arms. He kissed her tenderly on her pale forehead.
Slowly and carefully, he let go of her and quietly got out of bed. He picked up his phone and went to the living room.
As soon as he stepped out, his warm and gentle demeanor immediately became sharp and ruthless.
"It's me." His voice was low and cold as it rang out in the living room.
Sam stuck one hand in his pocket while holding his phone with the other. He stood at the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out over the night view of the city.
On the other end of the phone, Benjamin asked respectfully, "What can I do for you, Mr. Goodwin?"
"Find out what Madison has been doing in recent years, especially after she met Johnny," Sam commanded icily.
After a pause, he continued. "Investigate Johnny and Kaitlyn again as well. You must not leave out any detail."
Benjamin found it rather strange, but he obeyed.
The night went by very quickly.
When Madison woke up again, she was stunned to see Sam's handsome face marred by injuries. With that, the memories of last night bombarded her, and she turned as pale as a sheet at once.
She panicked when she saw Sam's brows furrow, as if he were about to wake up. She did not know how to explain what had happened the night before.
Luckily, Sam did not wake up in the end, and Madison breathed a sigh of relief.
She carefully lifted the blanket slightly, getting out of bed as stealthily as a thief. She picked up her phone from the bedside table and went out.
The moment she did, she received a text from Janet. "Hey, are you up yet? Shall we go and watch the show now?"
Madison replied immediately, "Yes, of course!"
She was going to tear off Kaitlyn and Johnny's masks of hypocrisy completely and cut ties with them from a position of moral superiority.
