Thinking of Miss Windsor’s pitiful situation, Neil couldn’t hide his contempt for Zane.
If Zane were a competent husband, Miss wouldn’t have encountered these things tonight.
Seeing that Gavin had been inside for a long time without coming out, Amelia was excited and wanted to immediately open champagne to celebrate!
This Theodore was actually useful.
In this amount of time, he had completed her plan.
However, Amelia was also realizing for the first time how much Gavin cared about Elara.
Just now Gavin had personally led people to search the building.
Standing at 6’3“, he commanded the room with an almost intimidating presence.
His face–handsome, sharply defined, with a touch of pallor–was all striking angles and intensity.
Those sapphire–blue eyes were both piercing and captivating, so focused it was as if nothing else in the world existed but Elara.
A man like that… exceptional didn’t even cover it. Even Zane seemed to pale in comparison.
Amelia’s mind flashed to her late husband–Ethan.
Ethan and Gavin were cut from the same cloth. Brilliant, dazzling, utterly untouchable.
Ethan was dead because he’d never loved her. His eyes had never truly seen her.
He’d just been playing the part of the perfect husband. All his “kindness” was just a performance, designed to make her look like a well–loved wife.
But the truth?
He’d loved that bitch, Elara.
Ethan, just like Gavin, had loved Elara.
The thought alone made Amelia green with rage.
She’d fought so hard to steal Zane away from Elara–so why was he falling for her now, too?
Why did every remarkable man in this goddamn world want Elara?!
If she could, she’d kill Elara right here, right now.
Her nails dug deep into her palms.
No. This wasn’t over.
Just you wait, Elara.
Gavin had no mind for the commotion outside the door. His fingertips gently wiped away the girl’s tears. “Jess, be good. It’s okay now. If you want to cry, then cry.”

Just after saying this, his gaze swept over a large bruise on Elara’s arm, his tone low: “Did Theodore hurt you?
Only then did Elara look up, following his gaze to her arm, and shook her head. Her tears didn’t stop, her voice hoarse beyond reengnition “I did it to myself.”
Under normal circumstances, needles buried in the body need to be slowly extracted with tweezers.
But she had no tweezers, not even sufficient time to remove the needle.
The bruising left on her arm was normal.
It was this needle, inserted into the acupoint that could cause unconsciousness, that allowed her to save herself.
Gavan stayed by her side like this, waiting until she had cried enough and her emotions were nearly stable before bending down to put one arm around her waist and lifting her up.
“Let’s change rooms and have a doctor examine you.”
“Okay”
Elara didn’t struggle. The moment the needle was pulled out, freed from the numbing suppression of the drugs, her body gave in completely to sheer exhaustion. She leaned weakly against Gavin, her consciousness flickering in and out.
In her dazed state, her mind drifted back to that cold, lonely snow–filled night–after Margaret had forced her to kneel for six hours, she was finally allowed to leave Windsor Estate.
Under a starless sky, her body stiff and frozen, she trudged helplessly through the overwhelming snowfall. The road stretched endlessly ahead, no one by her side–just like her life.
She forced herself to keep moving, but a deep chill settled in her heart. For one terrifying moment, she felt like she was going to die–and truth be told, if she had died alone in that snow, no one would ever have known.
The ride she’d called might never come. Just like all the hopes she’d thought she’d grasped, only to watch them slip away again.
But just as she was on the verge of giving up, a beam of light cut through the darkness and cold. A tall figure moved toward her through the swirling snow, and as she started to collapse, his arms caught her, pulling her firmly against his chest.
He carried her into his car. And she came back to life. He smelled of cedar and vetiver–warm, deep, and deeply comforting.
It felt exactly the same as now……
Gavin carried Elara out with long, determined strides. But as he faced the others, the tender concern vanished from his handsome face, replaced by his customary, daunting aloofness.
Although Gavin’s suit jacket completely covered Elara’s upper body, Zane could still tell at a glance that Elara looked somewhat disheveled.
He immediately followed: “What happened? Who did this?”
Fear flooded Zane’s heart.
Fortunately Gavin had been alert enough, otherwise… the consequences would have been unthinkable.
But when Amelia saw this, she was stunned.
What was going on?!
Although Elara’s dress was somewhat rumpled and creased, it was clear that Theodore hadn’t succeeded.
That idiot!
