Lia
After I was awake, I noticed that everyone kept staring at me and when I say they were staring at me they were truly staring at me like I was the strangest thing in the world.
They had every reason to stare at me like this.
I was a ticking time bomb. How could I go on and live with this power swirling around inside me?
My hands were still trembling. No matter how many deep breaths I took, I couldn’t shake the warmth humming under my skin-like the power was still there, waiting.
When I had called onto that power, it was amazing. I felt like I could do anything and released it towards the dragon. My attention was not to kill it but to subdue it.
Or maybe if I killed it rather than get rid of it from this very plane of existence everything would’ve been okay.
The dragon was literally gone-out of sight. There was nothing left but ash in it’s wake and I was struggling to accept that this had been my doing.
I killed the dragon and what did I feel? Nothing really. Mostly just powerful.
It was important to keep remembering that I could either make or break the world. I didn’t want to destroy, but if the dragons forced my hand then I was going to have no choice but to do what I had to do in order to survive.
I flopped back onto my sleeping bag, grabbing my phone and dialing Simone. She picked up on the second ring.
Simone was going to go crazy when she heard what was going on. She was going to crack a few jokes but she was going to help ground me. My best friend would make sure to help me see the truth of this situation.
“Okay, so either you’re dead, or something insane happened because you never call this fast,” she said, skipping a greeting entirely.
I groaned, throwing an arm over my face. “Simone… you’re not going to believe this.”
She sounded like she already couldn’t believe what I was going to tell her. God, she was going to go crazy when she learned the truth.
“Oh, I bet I will. Spill.” “There was a fight.”
I was dragging it out but this was hard to talk about. How did I admit this to someone? To anyone really. It was something I could barely admit to myself most of the time.
Silence. Then, “A fight? With who? What happened? Are you okay? Are you bleeding?”
“I’m fine,” I rushed out before she spiraled further. “But-” I hesitated, chewing on my bottom lip. “I did something. Something weird.”
“Weird how?”
“I don’t know!” I pushed myself upright, my legs still wobbly. “It was like… everything just snapped. There was this heat, and suddenly I was blasting power out of nowhere. And now-“
“Wait, wait, wait.” Simone’s voice sharpened with excitement. “You blasted power? Like magic or-oh my god, did you go all Super Saiyan on them?”
There was the Dragonball Z joke. It had flashed in my mind when I was releasing all that power. This was one of those shows that we loved to watch when we were children. Simone loved Goku while I was more partial to Vegeta. How could you not like Vegeta over Goku who was admittedly the worst father ever?
“Aw, poor you. Four gorgeous alphas hopelessly obsessed with you.” Simone sighed dramatically. “It’s honestly tragic.” Simone was not going to stop being Simone even when I was facing such a crisis. I was so grateful for her.
“You’re not helping,” I muttered.
“I’m not trying to.” She laughed softly. “I’m just saying-maybe they’re staring because they’re impressed. Not freaked out. And honestly? I’d stare too if I saw my best friend turn into a magical omega powerhouse.”
I bit my lip, the heat under my skin flaring again at the memory. “I didn’t even know I could do that, Simone. It just… happened. What if it happens again?”
“Then we figure it out.” Her voice was steady, certain. “You’re not alone in this, Lia. And hey-if nothing else, at least your mates will be there to catch you if you collapse again.”
I groaned, flopping back onto the bed. “You’re the worst.” “And you love me for it.”
I didn’t answer, but she wasn’t wrong.
Finally, after a few minutes, I sighed. “I do love you, you know that.” “See, I knew you loved me.”
I laughed. “Simone, I’m going to try to get some more rest, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll see you guys when you get back. Hope you don’t have to spend any more godforsaken time at that mountain.”
