Burn Me Once Burn With Me (Ruby Grayson) novel Chapter 606

The slap sobered Landon up considerably.

He saw a gust of wind coming toward him, a dark shadow looming.

He quickly leaned to the side to dodge it.

"Hayley!"

Landon gritted his teeth.

But Hayley paid him no mind, swinging her hand at him again.

Still groggy from the alcohol, Landon dodged clumsily, stumbling and crashing to the floor. The sound of his knee hitting the hardwood was sharp and clear.

Only then did Hayley stop. She looked down at him, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips. "I was starting to think you'd been playing innocent for so long you'd forgotten how to fight back."

She narrowed her eyes.

As a student of the great Maestro Antinus, she had been sent abroad to study at a music conservatory from a young age. Living under the Maestro's roof, she and Landon had inevitably grown close.

He was nothing like the obedient, naive boy he pretended to be in front of Ruby.

Landon stood up, breathing heavily. His hair was a mess, a testament to his debauched night.

"You don't know anything," he sneered, a cold aura enveloping him.

Hayley crossed her arms and sat on the edge of Landon's bed, earning another hateful glare from him.

"You can forget about Ruby."

The warmth in her eyes cooled, and the usual casualness vanished from her face.

Landon looked up, his gaze as sharp as a blade. "It's not your place to stop me."

"I'm just giving you some friendly advice."

Hayley shrugged, her expression turning serious. "You're just resentful. You latched onto some words the Maestro told you as a child and convinced yourself she's your so-called ‘fiancée.' But she doesn't know a thing about it."

Landon's body tensed.

He bit his lip. "So what? I'm here for her now. She'll know soon enough."
